Fall 2006 anime

• It's best to be watched as a time waster. It actually gets a bit better past the half way point. Although I couldn't really comment on the boobage though...okay, maybe the detective lady. I've been gradually watching less and less anime lately.

Hmm...Zero no Tsukaima, is that the one there is modern day boy was turned into a familiar for a rather stupid witch? it's quirky and got a few laughs out of it.
• Gomi/Emi wants to watch these anime this fall

1.Bartender - not sure about this one. Might be boring or really interesting. Bartender mixes a cocktail that quite literally brings back memories. Human drama sort of thing.

2.Red Garden - Girls in NYC discover they are dead and have to deal with it. Other than curiosity on how they do the setting I looks like it has some slick style. (I dig anime depictions of my town, be they realistic or awful. Cowboy Bebop movie was the best animated depiction of NY ever and it was set on MARS...hahaa)

3. Yamato Nadeshiko no Shichi Henge - aka the wallflower. I love the manga. Introverted goth girl shall be dragged out from her gloomy room by bishounen who want free rent!

4. Bakematsu Kisetsukan - Irohanihoheto - (that is a mouthful...I think that is the title) Set during the Meiji Revolution, the last days of the bakematsu...not really to sure on the specifics, except there is a cross dressing actor in it, and samurai and stuff.

5.Seirei no Mamoribito - warriors! Some sort of ancient chinese setting! Slick graphics and fighting from the looks of things.

6.Death Note - Oh come on...self explanatory, right?
• And I recommend:

• Honey and Clover
• NHK ni youkoso
• Blood +
• Chevalier
• NANA

Currently Watching:
Honey and Clover

NANA
Ouran (though it is getting tiresome)
Bokura ga Ita

An several others that are guilty pleasures and I wouldn't endorse to others.

Currently watching:
Akagi - Mahjong and Yakuza (japanese gansters) go surprisingly well together
Chevalier - Studio IG can produce some very nice animation
FLAG - I'm glad I continued watching this despite the bad first episode, so far the fugly cg tank mech barely shows up. I'm really digging this
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - Psycho harem thriller mystery, all the girls in this poor sap's harem want to either kill him, each other or various other people. Very entertaining for all the wrong reasons
Ouran High School Host Club - Most of the episodes manage to be funny without being cliched.. except for those focusing on the twins. They're just not that interesting
Utawarerumono - the first fantasy anime with furries that doesn't annoy me
Zero no Tsukaima - a harem anime. done right? A male lead who isn't a useless pussy?

Downloading to marathon later:
Kemonozume - It looks like a good show, but watching it piecemeal would kill the suspense for me.
Simoun - The first episode looks like absolute crap, the aircraft fly on the power of lesbianism? I'm not joking, the female pilot and co-pilots make out, then kiss this sphere battery thingy and then fly off into battle. But a bunch of online friends swear this anime becomes really really good.. We'll see..

What aboue Tenkuu no Escaflowne?
• Watching:
Host club: Same reason everybody is. It's funny, and stays on the right side of the cliche line.
NANA: I'm behind on this one. I spent too much time working over the summer, and I've not sat down and marathoned the episodes I missed, so I'm only up to like 10. I just love every adaptation of it, though. RIT Anime showed the live action last year and I fell in love. The manga and anime are even better.
Kujibiki Unbalance: It's not out yet, but I'm gonna be watching it religiously as soon as it is.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: Hilarious. I only watched the first two episodes when it was airing, but now that I'm back at RIT I've been blasting through it.

Re-Watching:
Outlaw Star: A classic. Watchable over and over again.
Genshiken: Universally awesome. Kinda scary familiar, though.

To be watched:
Honey and Clover: I've got a friend who watched it this summer, and really liked it. I'll probably spend a weekend on this.
Utawarerumono: The concept sounds intriguing, and a couple people have recommended it to me. I have to question kite's use of the word "furries" up there, though. Furries or nekomimi? They're somewhat different concepts. it's the last debate I want to get into today, though.
• You guys recently mentioned Cowboy Bebop just in passing, and it's been burning my brain ever since. So last night I dove right into that one again. I also just finished watching Wolf's Rain and Hellsing Ultimate OVA 1-2.
• Cowboy Bebop is probably the best animated television series ever produced.
• Utawarerumono has been licensed.
• <<I have to question kite's use of the word "furries" up there, though. Furries or nekomimi? They're somewhat different concepts.
Nekomimi means catgirls which wouldn't fit since most of the characters have ears and tails of other animals. But I will admitt that furries probably isn't the best term to use either, human-animal hybrids then.
• The problem is that people use the word "furry" to cover a whole assortment of different things.

There is anthropomorphic art, which I think can be very cool. Then, there is decidedly "furry" art. There is pornographic furry/anthropomorphic art. There is the "furry" culture. There is the furry fetish.

We need different words for all of them. Help me out here. ;^)

I've seen it most clearly put this way:

Nekomimi: People with cat ears/other animal ears. Maybe a tail, too. Examples: Tokyo Mew Mew, Rabi~en~rose.
Zoomophic: Humans with animal traits, such as ears, tails, paws, patches of fur. Examples: Aisha Clan Clan, Felicia from Darkstalkers
Anthropomorphic: Animals with human traits, such as standing on two legs, speaking and opposable thumbs. Examples: Looney Toons, Mickey Mouse.
Furries(Things): Animals that start to blur the line of human/animal, generally being less clearly human or animal. Often lightly sexual, or at least less clearly genderless. Examples: More webcomics than I can count.
Fur Porn: Very distinctly sexual art involving the above.
Furries (People): Those who enjoy said art.
Fursuiters: The people who go beyond paper and digital expressions of Furries and dress up in Fur costumes, often built with holes for sexual activity.

I'm also pretty sure I just started a flamewar. Crap.
• Someone who actually knows all those words: Furry

I'm currently watching:

simoun: this anime series is getting good, I was really freaked with the sudden shoujo-ai but quickly recovered, and after some episodes liked the series.
(it's not the first shoujo ai I seen, I just finished watching kasimasi and it's well...Weird.)

You got owned, owned owned owned!
• Someone who actually knows all those words: Furry
No: Loquacious.

I actually learned all those words from having a very creepy stalker. Who also fell into the last category.

Personally? I have a girlfriend who wears cat-ears. That's awesome. Any further is just not my bag. Not that I care if it's yours.
• Earlier this month I watch the first episode of Zaizen Jotaro. I only watched half of it because it was absurd in american action movie kind of way.

I'm sorry I ever brought up furries in this thread. lol

Chevalier has been pulled from animesuki. It's not licensed, but it is being produced by MFI, which is why they pulled it. That blows. I wonder if AnimeYuki will continue to fansub it, since it hasn't been licensed.

• Ahh, too bad. Chavalier really grabbed my attention. I'm not too put off, though. There are about 5 shows going now that I want to watch but simply don't have the time. I'll probably catch them all bit by bit with Netflix over the years.
• edited September 2006
lol Don't worry, AnimeYuki is an Aussie fansubbing group, so they don't stop subbing a show until it is licensed in Australia or anywhere in region 4.

That's great news. Now I just have to remember to keep looking for the torrents.

• Episode three of Chevalier has been posted by the fansub group here.
• I've got to thank GNs for recommending Kemonozume. I've now watched episodes 1-3 and they are incredible. Does anybody know if the subbers are releasing them on a certain day of the week, or just when they get the chance? I want to know when to rev up the Bittorrent...
• Decent fansubbers release episodes when they're ready, the ones doing Kemonzume are already 4 episodes behind. You can check sites like animesuki.com or baka-updates or add them to your RSS reader
