I don't even remember. So it may have been contempt prior to investigation. But I hated shojo with a passion, perhaps because I thought I was supposed to like it.
A lot of music I used to hate and now love. Especially folk and hipster garbage, which I now mainly listen to. I still hate country though. Fuck country.

My dad used to listen to country all the time. Fuck country indeed.

That was my opinion for a long time too, but about a year ago I discovered the 70s. Country rules and you all can suck it.

Fuck you fucks. Country isn't limited to the poppy garbage that the radio stations play for the unwashed masses. I'm also a little surprised that you like folk but not country, considering how intertwined they are.
Johnny Cash changed my entire outlook on Country music. After that, I started listening to some older, non-radio-popular country, and discovered that it's actually quite good if you can sift your way through the utter crap that is popular-country music.
Agreed about country. The stuff on the radio now is just pop-rock with twangy guitars (sometimes) and lyrics written to appeal to rednecks (a very few artists notwithstanding).

Another thing I used to hate but now love: mowing the lawn. As a kid it was a terrible chore, and now it's a joy. I love that smell and it's good to actually do something that's so productive.

EXACTLY. I don't mind some older stuff, or stuff like bluegrass but all that shit from pretty much any modern country "artist" is god-awful pop-rock about beer and the bible.
Better yet, a mashup of Johnny Cash songs and NWA's "Straight Outta Compton" entitled the same.
I did some research into this. It turns out that there's an entire sub-genre of mixing Cash with Hip Hop and Rap. This is my favorite: I also really want someone to use this beat.
