The song is nice, the video is borderline disgusting. I appreciate the juxtaposition between the title of the song and his actions, but I still don't like it.
I don't understand why he felt the need to make something new. He has plenty of older great material that people outside of Korea have never heard. Even though it's not new, it might as well be to the majority of the population. Just start promoting your old songs like they are new.
By coming up with a new song of the same formula then at best you can transform from one hit wonder into one trick pony. You already have more tricks you have performed earlier. He should have done that, or made his new song outside of the Gangnam Style formula.
I think Right Now could be a hit if you exposed it to the rest of the world.
Maybe he is trying to follow the same formula of impressing his home fans first, since those are most likely to stick with him long term, since they've supported him for so many years already. That requires new stuff. If he switched over to only promoting his old stuff to his newfound audience (which has a VERY high potential to be fleeting), it could easily be interpreted as snubbing his core fanbase.
I haven't listen to the actual song yet, but I have just view the video, and one thing I did notice is that the colors are not as bright and poignant as they were in Gangnam Style.
Those took two things I was not particularly interested in and made it into one thing that was somewhat amusing... and made me miss elementary/middle school.
