You can add friends in Torchlight that are independent of your friends in Steam. When you create a server you can check a box so only people in your friends list can join a game.
It also doesn't ask you to confirm friends or anything, it's one-way. So I can totally spy on you guys and see that Scott is level 22 and Apsup is level 27. I'd say have Scott make the server since I'm pretty sure the state of the world and quests completed is based on whoever started it. My name in TL2 is the same as here: pence.
Ow. That room full of mechanical scarabs hurt. Also, I just learned how to make the giant wall of thorns on the Outlander, but it never goes where I want it to. It seems like I can shoot over it, but other classes can't. Still, a lot more fun than my Berserker (punch punch punch punch).

You were making that wall?? I was trying to destroy it! It was in the way!
Exactly! It was annoying. Except for me. Ditto most of the abilities I have with knockback. Great to push things away, except when they push them out of range of everyone else's abilities.
