    I suddenly have weird alt-universe Ghostbusters fan-fiction to write.

    Edit: In it, "slimer" is a particularly greasy hobo.

    I suddenly feel that this process should take place in montage form, with a barbershop quartet song to play it along.

    Actually, there are charities that do this sort of thing out there and then try to set them up with job interviews, although it probably only works for the homeless who are purely down on their luck as opposed to those who have serious mental/addiction issues.
