  • I'm hopeful and optimistic, but not really in the state of "OMG it's the second coming of Star Wars Jesus, everything will be saved!" -hyped.
  • That... was a hype-worthy trailer.
  • They know what will get us going.

Dat star destroyer. Dat skeleton. X-Wings in atmosphere.

Getting nerds excited about Star Wars is about as easy as bull's-eyeing a womp rat in a T-16.

  • Let's also get hyped about the new Star Wars Battlefront game!

That's only easy if you're Luke. Everyone else seemed to think it was quite difficult.

The Falcon flying down Death Star II trench inside of some wrecked ship.

Is that Mark Hamill's voice? Doesn't really sound like him to me, but then again it's been 30 years...

I think it is, but I can't remember when I last saw or heard him in something where he wasn't playing a villain or villainous type and he has different voice for those characters.

  • Is there a reason that stormtrooper guy is always out of breath and then taking off his helmet.

Air supply malfunction part of the plot?

Speculation is that he is force sensitive and not having a great time about it.
  • I am now aboard the hype train for this film, and will ride it until they fucking kick me off.

That Star Destroyer made me hard.

I felt it. It was as if millions of nerds changed their desktop background at once.

  • Yeah. That was some Viagra level Star Destroyer right there.
  • The star destroyer was cool but didn't get my heart aflutter or anything. I played Force Unleashed and all.

The part that made me tear up was "Chewie, we're home."
  • I supposed this is also a good time to remind people that all the Star Wars OSTs are on Spotify.
  • As well as on Amazon Prime Music.
  • "Chewie we're home" *breaks down in tears*

Yeah I realised there are so many soundtracks on Google Music too, I listened to a few Star Wars albums for the past few hours.
The JJ Abrams soundtrack that can be heard in the trailer has a strong influence from the original films mixed with a bit of how his Star Trek Soundtracks sound.
  • I feel like a Star Wars fan again. Like when I watch the original trilogy, Tartakovsky Prequel Shorts, and Battlefield/Kyle Katarn Games. John Williams Score is still stirs something great in me.

Really cool note about a new character in the movie too...

  • That star destroyer looks SO BIG.
  • Imperial-class Star Destroyers are fucking huge. 1600 meters long or so. Fucking gigantic engines of destruction.
  • I know, but that shot gives such a visceral feel for it.

What's the best version to watch the original trilogy in right now? The one Han shoots first, all color corrected, no rerelease garbage. Some fans made it I believe.
  • Harmy's Despecialized edition is the only edition.

  • I own the 1995 VHS collection. From what I can tell, it's the same master used for the LaserDisc version. Unfortunately, it uses pan and scan.

I've never watched the Despecialized edition.
  • After a fairly in depth discussion with people on FB on how BB-8 might work as a practical machine, someone posted this...

We think we have it figured out but lack the expertise to pull it off. Kudos to those wack jobs who did!
  • I was convinced that was a soccer ball.
