Here is a poll on what your opinions are on the Wii's launch titles.

  • I just finished LoZ: Twilight Princess yesterday, and I have to say that I personally thought it was one of the best, if not the best, games I have ever played in my experience as a gamer.
  • How very pretentious of you to make your forum name "Wii"! XD

I think hands-down it has got to be Twilight Princess. None of these other games, while extremely fun like Raving Rabids and Excite Truck, are even in the same ballpark.
  • Why is this poll even necessary?

Good point. And I want to know who voted Trauma Center over Zelda.

  • I bet Wii did
  • I want to know who voted for Wii sports over ANYTHING? I mean, really, I love Wii sports, but it has it's place!
  • Wow...now Wii Sports has TWO votes...this is getting pretty scary, guys.
  • I was one of those votes. While Twilight Princess is a wonderful game, it's really a GCN game that happened to be released with the Wii. While it makes some use of the Wii's special features, it's otherwise just a GCN game.

If you take Zelda out of the equation, Wii Sports has provided the most amusement thus far, unless you count the virtual console or the Mii channel... ^_~

Monkey Ball, however, is probably the worst game to come out. It's like they didn't even beta test the damn thing.

Who bought Monkey Ball again? Not Scott!
  • You also bought Madden. We've played Monkey Ball more than we played that ^_~
  • You guys don't seem the sports game types.
  • Ice Hockey is one of the best sports games ever made, and we play it regularly. ^_~ I used to play Blitz on a semi-regular basis back in high school, too.

Granted, I'd always rather actually play a real sport as opposed to some videogame version.

XD I stay home from school today, all sick and sneezy, and the forum is buzzing with activity! Now I know what you people do at work all day =P

Wait, have you PLAYED Happy Feet? Or DBZ? Or Avatar?

  • License-based games don't really qualify as real games as far as I'm concerned... ^_~

Agreed. I have never really been able to get into a video sports game cause a sport is something that I can actually do outside and the video games can't even come close in comparison.
  • Madden is actually not so bad. It's just complicated and requires effort to play. I got it mostly to play with my brother, cousins and other non-FRC friends who will appreciate it more.
  • I heard that Monkey Ball was a pretty fun Wii game, I guess I was wrong. How odd.

I heard that about half of the mini-games were great, and the other half sucked.

A quarter of the minigames are pretty good. Another quarter are so broken as to be unplayable. The rest are generally mediocre. In general, it really feels like they didn't have actual people try these games for any length of time. The wiimote usage, which is fantastic in other games, just plain sucks balls in Monkey Ball.

It seems like that same thing that happened with Monkey Ball for the GCN. They rushed the game out on launch to capitalize on the limited library. The game sold well due to the lack of competition, while in reality was fairly crap.

  • Well the only Wii games I've played are Wii Sports and Zelda and even though I dislike the controls I gotta go with Zelda because it's awesome on the Cube. Maybe if they'd just make you use A to swing your sword like they originally planned... It's also the reason I haven't bought a Wii yet. I bought a DS at launch and bought all these short tech demo/minigame collections with it cuz there just wasn't anything else out there. I'll probably get a Wii by the end of next year though.

I voted for Zelda because.... c'mon seriously that's obviously the game that spent the most time in preparation for the Wii and it shows. While I agree with Rym that "technically" it's a GCN game on the Wii, from what I read (because I'm not going to buy both versions of the game... that's just silly) they actually feel like different games when playing them. I know playing it on the Wii it's very intuitive but the only gripe I have, which has happened with every 3D Zelda, is the camera system, it annoys the hell out of me that you can only push Z to adjust the camera.

I have both Red Steel and Call of Duty 3 (which seems to have been forgotten) and both are decent games. Red Steel I finished in about 5 - 7 hours, it was an okay game it just felt kind of awkward at times. The camera system was great on it though. Call of Duty 3 I'm still playing in between sittings of Zelda (which isn't much). It's a fun game and I can see many more shooters coming over to the wii just because it is so much more intuitive than any other console. But overall CoD3 just seems like using the Wiimote for shooting and then everything else is an afterthought and not used very well (like the wrestling for your gun or planting charges, is almost painful because it just doesn't seem to recognize the motions very well).

Anyway those are the three games I have, I can't wait for Wii play w/ Wii Remote comes out >.< It's the perfect reason for me to wait on buying another wii mote. Those are my two cents ^_^

I remember you saying in a an episode, very specifically, that Wii Sports was NOT a game. It's a tech-demo.

But Monkey Ball 2 was excellent. Every single minigame was great for the most part, and the main game was very addicting.

  • Wii Sports is a tech demo, but it's also a complete collection of mini games. It's a tech demo in that it shows off what kinds of things you can do/expect with the Wii, but to call it merely a tech demo really is a discredit to Wii Sports since it's a lot of fun, especially when you play it with friends.
  • I bet Wii did
    Actually, I voted for Zelda.
  • My IDIOT friend said that you can earn points on the mii chanel.

Does this friend even own a Wii??

Nevertheless, Zelda is a awesome game.

    Parents for their kids.
  • I just bought the Metal Slug Anthology, didn't get to play it much tonight but I messed with the controls. The ports are authentic and controls are smooth. It was definitely worth the small 40 bucks!
