You know, the thing hasn't even been out half a year. Don't you guys think it's a bit soon to pass righteous judgment on the Wii?
No. It was too soon to pass judgement before it came out. Now that it's been out, I own it and I've played it for many hours, I think it's fair to pass judgement. My judgement is that when the GameCube came out, I played Luigi's Mansion until I beat it. Then I didn't play it at all until Smash Bros. came out. Got bored of Smash Bros. and had to wait for Metroid Prime (I think) before I played it again. The Wii has provided constant fun with many games since it came out. That beats pretty much any system I've ever gotten besides the NES.

I'm pretty sure Metroid Prime came out before SSB:M.

There is no way it came out before SSB:M. Smash Brothers came out just a few weeks after the GameCube launch.

Hmmm...I remember Metroid being a launch title.
[Edit] Ah, you are right. Super Smash = Dec 03, 2001 Metroid = Nov 18, 2002
I found launch dates for games from all systems in Australia here. Where's Trauma Centre Nintendo? If I don't get my wii surgery fix I'm gonna have to kidnap another homless guy.
I can't play Metroid anymore, makes me nauseous...
How so?
I get motion sickness from playing it. I can play a little bit longer if I jack up the contrast and brightness.
I can play FPS games as long as the horizon is constant (Doom) but if the game allows you to look up down and at weird angles I get sick after a while. It's part of getting old.

That happened to me when I first played Descent. I got over it in about a minute.
What about Half-Life 2? There were a lot of complaints a while back about motion sickness because, allegedly, the field of view in HL2 is smaller than a typical FPS.
Man.. I used to play most FPSs with an FOV between 110 and 140. Most of the people I knew would get sick if they tried to watch me play for more than a few seconds.
My dad gets sick when he watches me play Midnight Club in first person view on my PS2; but FPS games? I've never met anyone who had motion sickness problems with those.
By the way, I also voted for Wii Sports. It's damned skippy.

My dad gets that way when we play Timesplitters. That's It's actually a pretty fun game. The single player sucks, but when you go into the arcade in two player... hehehe... good times. ...
You have to admit, sticking a remote mine to the gingerbread man, and then waiting until he's on fire to blow him up is pretty fun. ... ^^
I personally think that the Wii will eventually fall behind the Xbox 360 and PS3 due to lack of games and lack of online play. Nintendo should focus on their better system...DS.
I personally think that the Wii will eventually fall behind the Xbox 360 and PS3 due to lack of gamesThe games are clearly coming. The system is selling almost entirely on the merit of its potential and on Wii Sports. There is a first-rate lineup of games in the pipe.
I think the Wii and the 360 have equivalent potential in slightly different arenas. The Wii has Nintendo's first party properties and the massive potential of the controller, coupled with its cheapness. The 360 has its excellent online play.
The biggest threat to the 360, in my opinion, would be a resurgance of non-microsoft-controlled PC gaming, particularly in the FPS, RTS, and MMO arenas.
A real threat would be a system with all the potential of the Wii and DS coupled with the open-ness, online-ness, and power of the PC and 360. I imagine something like a dedicated Steam console coupled with all sorts of interesting wireless peripherals.

You ask too much me thinks. This is a fantasy world you've created. Why not give it the internet, television, VOIP, and custom youtube editing software all in our living room? What then!?! Teh APOCALYPSE is coming!
I personally think the Wii has yet to shake it's novelty status. The only time I really fire up the Wii is if something cool comes on the Virtual Consule. I purchased Zelda for the Wii...I didn't like it...then again I think it was all down hill since "The Adventures of Link" (just an opinion of course).
I really think the PS3 will eventually explode in terms of popularity...it's only going to take one or two amazing games and people will go crazy....and what if "Home" is actually cool?
I'm no fanboy and personally hope all three consules succeed, but the Wii just hasn't impressed me like the 360 has and it doesn't have the potential I feel the PS3 has.
Maybe I'm just not into the whole new control structure, I don't know. I bought Resident Evil 4 for the Wii thinking it would be great, but I hate it.

I wish I'd played VS. It's coming to the DS though
