As long as Season 5 doesn't tread on any of the books' storylines I think it'll be at least interesting. So help me god though, if he starts training Cody and Astor in the Harry-Code? I'm out. (Does this forum have a spoiler hover-over tag or the like?)
Doubt that. Dexter thought maybe just maybe he can get rid of the dark passenger altogether. After this though I wonder how he will handle it. But from what I've seen so far he doesn't want his kids to be like him. At least I hope so. One thing is I hope they don't go too overboard with some of the unanswered plot lines and the characters don't start to act out of character if that makes sense.
Unfortunately, Dexter's showrunner (effectively the director of the whole series) has left the show. It's usually not a good thing when this happens, and you can expect a totally new approach for the show going forward. It could completely revitalise the series. Who knows.
Is it just me or does knowing that the Michael C. Hall (Dexter) and Jennifer Carpenter (Deb) are married add a certain creepy level to their on screen sibling relationship?
My girlfriend and I just finally got around to starting to watch Dexter, after friends of ours have been pestering us about it for years. Only two episodes in, but really liking it so far.

Awe mans, Season 1 was most excellent. I remember towards the end of that season I wondered how can they possibly come up with another story line to where it's as intriguing or exciting as this. I then watched Season 2 & 3, and was not disappointed.
Tip to anyone interested in Dexter: Read the books before watching the show. I did it in the reverse order and while the first book was enjoyable it was less so than if I had not already viewed season one. Also, BIG FAIL on the part of Showtime and their ad campaign for the launch of season 4. I had watched seasons one and two via streaming on Netflix and was patiently waiting for season 3 to be made available (mainly because I couldn't be bothered to go download it from the usual sources). Then Showtime goes and launches their magazine ad campaign with the baby and the tag of 'chop off the old block' for season 4. Thanks for wrecking the subplot of season 3 for me there, assholes.
Otherwise, a damn enjoyable show. One I've recommended to several of my friends.
Just finished watching it last night, and it blew my mind. After thinking about it, the only way the could have possibly ended the season was exactly how they did. Although I wish Arthur had not gotten to Rita and basically re-created Dexter's 'birth' (we all wanted a happier ending I think) it does continue Dexter's inner trouble of 'can I exist as all parts of what I am'. I'm both unhappy and satisfied at season 4's end.
I feel the same way about it too. I honestly have no idea what they're going to do for season 5.
Apparently the writing staff doesn't know yet either. I read a few interviews and they haven't decided if they are going to start the next season right after the ending or six months into the future. They also haven't decided if they are going to have a "big baddy" like Trinity, Ice Truck or the DA or if they are going to focus more on internal development of Dexter with him dealing with lesser baddies and family concerns.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS: DO NOT GO ON IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW!
Word on the street is that Rita will still be in season 5 somehow. New stars to the season, Julia Stiles and Jonny Lee Miller. I'm intrigued with Julia Stiles being in the show. We'll see how it goes.
I really still can't imagine how it's going to be with what happened at the end of season 4.
I'm too lazy to do white text, so insert possible spoiler warning here!
I recently finished season 4. I was very, very upset with the ending. I was slightly depressed for a couple of days afterwards. Rita was my favorite character (besides Dexter), mainly because I watched Buffy/Angel and just love Julie Benz.
What hurts me even worse is that Dexter will have a new woman in his life (I do like Julia Stiles though). I think it is just too soon for me. *sniffle*

Wikipedia says she's returning for the season premiere, so I'm thinking they might be starting off with her funeral or flashbacks or something. I am also hoping that Dexter has visions of her like he has of Harry. That way I would still get to see her
White text isn't perfect either; what's best is black text on a black background, which ensures that the text will still be hidden when quoted. It would be easier if there was a spoiler tag, I guess.
Ugh. I have to wait for Jeremy to come home to watch this. You have me guessing so many possibilities of what might have happened from the last episode. T____T
BTW, did anyone think when he talked to the kids in episode 1 of season 5, while wearing the Mickey Mouse hat was oddly hilarious?

Ehehe. I think you'll enjoy the episode; it was quite a good one.

I thought it was too screwed up to really be funny. It was an excellent way of showing just how oblivious Dexter was for that episode, though.
Yeah, the only time she was good was "Ten things I hate about you", and even then, mostly because the character was "Julia Stiles being (emotional state)"
Have you sat through Hamlet (2000), in which she played Ophelia? Between her and Ethan Hawke, it was like drinking a glass of lemon juice and glass shards, despite a strong supporting cast.

Hmm...what he doesn't know won't hurt him. ^________^ 0=)

I totally agree with you Lackofcheese. Did you see the previews for the next one? I almost shat myself from all the cliffhangers it gave.
@Sail
Great song, but very morbid video to watch. Pogo
XD
Also, Julia Stiles is a terrible actress.
