  • @Kate -- this is actually the first thing I've seen her in. I've had to keep asking my girlfriend what her name is. Why do they keep putting her in stuff? I could kinda understand if she was super hot or or something, but she even looks generic.

Okay, necro-bump. Season has ended, I'll straight up say, this season finale sucked ass.

I won't go into my full on rant mode, but I just want to say this. I really didn't expect this season, to have so many problems. With the "wink, wink, nudge, nudge" dialogue, the cheesy villian, the irritating plot-holes, lack of believable actions, and just the way they kick around the character of Dexter Morgan really made me annoyed. I know people are divided on this, but I couldn't stand it.

  • I like Julia Stiles :( I really liked Lumen... maybe it is because I'm a girl, and Julia Stiles has tended to be in girly movies? sigh.
  • So Jeremy and I have gotten back into season 5 and started back up on episode 8. We are on 11 now and it's getting ridiculously suspenseful and good. It started slow, but man is it getting nail-bitingly crazy.

I like Lumen. Let's see how the show ends.
  • Julia Stiles was amazing in that role.

I only really knew her from the Bourne Trilogy.

As in - I thought her acting was pretty great as Lumen, yes she became annoying sometimes but I turn a blind eye when there is some eye candy :P
  • Oh, I know what you mean -- I was just using a hackneyed internet meme to express my disbelief. I've only otherwise seen her in the Bourne trilogy, where I thought her acting was fine, probably because she didn't have that much acting to do (though she did have a good "ohjesusfuckdon'tkillme!" moment.) I thought her acting in Dexter was almost unwatchable, though.
  • All I have to say after finishing that season is can Debra ever find a decent guy to fall in love with? Sure Quinn got cleared from the blood test, but seriously all the men she's been with either one thing or another screws it up.

I will say I like seeings where Dexter's character is going.

For next season the Admiral will be there. (Edward James Olmos) I heard it's the final season as well. I wonder how they will end it.

I seriously lost interest in the show after season 4 (even that was pushing it).

I think the worst thing about the season was where they took Lumen and Dexter's relationship. It was in areas that you know would end uncomfortably. It was an interesting set-up, but the execution was really poor. And Jordan Chase was such a suck villain, I can't get over that. We all knew Trinity would be hard to compare, but damn, he is the worst out of ANY major killer.

I think Debra got the best character development with this season. I was really intrigued with the stuff happening with her...but she definitely should take a break from men. XD If this is the final season? They have a lot writing on what'll happen.

I have to agree and also agree with Andrew, the formulaic quality made it hard to watch.
  • I skipped out of this thread for a few years as I was worried about spoilers, but now I'm all caught up.

    Season 1: Awesome.

Season 2: Better than 1 in many ways.

Season 3: I rushed through it the first time, and it didn't grip me, but on the second time through I really got into it.

Season 4: Best villain ever! And holy shit, the ending had me screwed up and having bad dreams for three nights.

Season 5: Not the direction I expected, and very little effort put into filling massive plot holes compared to earlier seasons, but not so bad in the end.

Season 6: What a pile of wank. Juliane and I had to force ourselves to watch the last half of this season, as it was so disappointing. Everything we enjoyed about seasons 1 through 5 was thrown out of the window. Mos Def as Brother Sam was good, but just about everything else was a utter garbage. How many story lines do you need in a season? One or two. Three at the most. How many did this have? I can't even keep track.

Ah well. Here's to hoping season 7, if it happens, takes a turn for the better.
  • I was enjoying the series for the first four season and some of the 5th, but I stopped watching. If Season 6 is that bad, then I'm inclined not to bother.

Maybe if Season 7 is good then I'll finish off Season 5 and skip or watch Season 6, but for now there's better things to watch.
  • I might do a fan edit of season 6 to cut out all the bullshit. Entire episodes would be taken out, along with some characters, and half the plot lines. It really is that bad.
  • Every season after the first was boring and honestly I though the first season of the TV show was much better than the book.

Season 6 was great for the first half, and then the second half was all "What the fuck are these writers thinking?" (For Dexter's plotline, the stuff with Debra got really messy)
