Confession time...don't be shy!
I thought it would be neat to start a sort of confessional thread in which users could list one video game and one movie in which they believe everyone except them has seen/played.
I’ll start us off:
Movie – The Godfather
Game – Quake
Comments
Game: Half Life (Which I've purchased and not played)
Zombie: Why haven't you ever watched The Godfather? That makes me sad.
Games: Any Final Fantasy except Crystal Chronicles and all Zeldas except Twighlight Princess, which I've barely played.
>.>
With that said:
Movies: Citizen Kane, any Rocky movie aside from the first
Games: the Dragon Warrior series (at least, I don't remember playing any of them) and the Dragon Quest series (again, don't remember if I did or not)
I'd like to add a new category.
Movies that you are ashamed to admit having seen: the Thunder in Paradise movies
Games: Mario 3 and Half-Life 2
Movies I'm Ashamed to Have Seen: Speed 2 (But I fell asleep half an hour into it)
Movies: If anime counts, I've hardly seen any. I mean, I've seen Dirty Pair, Project A-Ko, Cutey Honey, and Ghost in the Shell, but that's pretty much it. (Dare I say the following?) I've found that a little anime goes a long way. Aren't they all pretty much the same thing after a while?
Games I have not played: All Pokemon, All Zelda, All Mario, All Sonic. No shame there. I think most of those would be tedious and jejune.
Movies I'm ashamed to have seen: Bordello of Blood.
Also, Joe: I'm not talking to you anymore until you go play a Mario game. I think that's a bare minimum qualification to be allowed on teh Internets, right-o? So go download yourself an NES emulator and a Super Mario Brothers ROM and don't come back until you've stomped some god-damn goombas.
Movie I am ashamed to have seen: Care Bears the Movie. In the theater. In, like, 1984. With my blue Care Bear stuffed animal in tow.
A movie I'm ashamed of seeing: Crossroads
Games: Custer's Revenge.
Since Jason came out with such a harsh revelation, I'm okay with this one:
Movies I'm Ashamed of Seeing: The Barney Movie. That's the downside of homeschooling: You don't get to not go on field trips. But at least I got to go into the projection area first. That's my consolation.
I also would like to add a new topic:
Music You Are Ashamed of Liking: Backstreet Boys.
Games: Sonic, Half Life 2
Movies I'm Ashamed of Seeing: The Power Rangers movie, on a movie theater , I even made my mom see it with me.
Movie I haven't seen: Rocky, Citizen Cane, Jaws
Game: Half-Life 1
Movies I'm ashamed of seeing: Pee Wee's Big adventure
Music I'm ashamed of liking: Backstreet Boys (only the older stuff, Justin Timberlake sucks), 98 degrees, Vitamin C
Since all the cool kids are doing it, I'm gonna add one more thing to this.
Games you are ashamed of playing and liking: Barbie Horse Adventures..... just kidding <.< >.>
Game- I don't really know. I play lots of video games, both on consoles and on pc. I DO have a long list of games that I have played, and have no idea why anyone would continue playing after the first couple of hours, most of which are MMO's.
I have seen Jaws, and I felt ripped off. You have a movie titled Jaws, a movie poster prominently featuring a shark, and then a long ass movie with only like 15 minutes worth of shark action. They could re-title Deap Blue Sea to Jaws, and I would have felt I hadn't wasted my time.
Schindler's List made my openly cry. So did visiting the Holocaust Museum in DC, but even more so. That place makes you feel very small, and your problems seem very insignificant.
Games not really sure. Didn't really have many game systems but all my friends did so I've pretty much played a lil bit of everything in one quantity or another.
Music I'm ashamed of liking: Insane Clown Possee (well, I USED to like them, but I still give it a listen every now and then), and my darkest shame: I used to enjoy country music (and line dancing).
Game: Counter-Strike
I can't believe you people haven't seen Citizen Kane! That's really inexcusable. Many, many of the movie cliches, tropes, and visual language you take for granted comes from Kane. Now go see it.
Citizen Kane in 10 minutes:
Citizen Kane 3000:
Virtual NES
In any case...
Movie: Schindler's List
Games: Final Fantasy. All of them.
I can't blame you guys for watching Citizen Kane - it's not for everyone. However, the same is not true of the Godfather (part I, at least). It's a very good, and very entertaining, movie.
Game I've not played: Golden Eye
What do I win?
Hmmm...after watching the 10 min Kane, all I can say is...it's not much more tolerable than watching the entire thing.
Anime I'm ashamed to have seen: While I was lucky enough to enter the world of anime with Gundam Wing, I subsequently expressed horrid judgement and wandered through lovely shows like .hack//SIGN, .hack//Legend of the Twilight, Dragon Ball Z, Final Fantasy Ulimited, Love Hina, Gundam SEED Destiny, Inuyasha, Kiddy Grade, the third season of Rurouni Kenshin, Gravitation, and at least an episode of every Tenchi aside from the original OVA. In other words, I fell for every fangirl/newbie Otaku trap in existence. Yeah . . . not the best time of my life.
Game I haven't played: I hadn't played any NES/SNES games until college . . . so sad. God bless Dreamcast EMUs. I still have yet to play any Zelda's or Final Fantasy's . . .
Anime I haven't seen: EVA . . . I will though. In time for Scrym's final thoughts.
Movie I'm ashamed to have seen: This is really had because, as a rule, even bad movies are educational. There are quite a few I haven't liked but I wouldn't say I'm ashamed per se. I'll think about it.
Game I'm ashamed to have enjoyed: Halo . . . serious.
Music I'm ashamed to have enjoyed: I owned the Chumbawamba album. [cry]
Shortly after Otakon, we'll likely have an explosion of swag.
:D
I'm looking forward to it. Why didn't you guys get any in prep for Otakon? I'd listen to a show that gave me swag.
