Well after 2 long years it is finally live. A website to be a gaming news and review site with additional video content, come on in and stay awhile I bring you Blistered Thumbs.Net
Congrads to my pal Joe for getting it to look so awesome, let me know what you all think.
A video about the art of Foley, in other words, creating sound-scapes and sound effects for movies, using props, your body, creativity, and good timing. AKA, something you didn't know about, and if you did, thought that was done mostly by computers these days.
If I have to say it, producer Nishizaki is the kind of person I hate. I also have to admit he can be a likeable person, too. But I personally prefer not to like him....So when I started working on Mobile Suit Gundam, I always felt in the back of my mind that “we need to beat that guy upâ€Â.
Macias also says that The Nish was "to Yamato what Gene Roddenberry was to Star Trek." That's odd. You'd think that even though they were co-creators, Leiji Matsumoto would hold that distinction. He did direct it, after all.

Nope. I've wanted to be that guy with a mic and a bunch of noise-making toys ever since I saw the special features on my VHS of Titan A.E.
Man, me too, ever since I saw a short segment about it on some "Behind the scenes of Hollywood" doco when I was much younger.
One thing I remember is that the classic "Thwap/thud" punch sound was often made by hitting a few bits of celery on top of a cushion with a piece of thin garden bamboo.

Or, as is the case with Indiana Jones, smacking a pile of leather with a baseball bat.

One supposes that it would vary from artist to artist, and movie to movie. It wouldn't be surprising if it varied from punch to punch, character to character, from movie to movie, and from artist to artist.
Also, they probably re-use the actial recordings some times, especially for background stuff.
Maybe, but I don't think they do as often as you'd think - after all, while they do have a vast library of sounds, you call in a foley artist when you don't have something suitable, rather than when you do, and there would be a ludicrous amount of reasons why any particular sound might not be suitable.
Edit - Ah, the Wilheim Scream - started out as an actual effect, became somewhat of an in-joke between SFX guys, and then when it became more widely known, it started getting used more and more as a nod-and-a-wink to everyone in the know. I doubt it's rarely used for more than the sake of using it anymore.
The cat just sniffed dissaprovingly at the beanbag I'd just cleared for him to sit on then went and jumped onto my chair, promptly making himself comfotable.
This is actually my thing of the day yesterday, but was too lazy to sub it before now, and didn't want people to watch it without understanding the lyrics to the song.

Why is that even something you would want to do? C:/Apps isn't even on a different drive...

Good enough for a repost if already posted, if not, well, we have clearly been in error.
