In that thread: Gizmodo doesn't really realize that neural networks like that have been around in machine learning since the 70s. But making a distributed "neuron-like" chip for doing the neural network in parallel (with probably pretty low power consumption) is pretty cool.
There probably should be a rule that states a person can only receive the peace prize 10 years after initially nominated or something, if only to prevent some short term "goodness" from covering up later "badness."
If you look at some of the people who've won the peace prize over the years, there are certainly some people who have no business with a peace prize.
These days, the peace prize seems to be awarded mostly as a big F-you to people that the peace prize committee don't like instead of actually choosing someone who helped promote world peace.
