I always put a title or description on my video links so people don't have to click on them to know if it might appeal to them. I wish everyone else would do the same, especially for when I'm browsing on my iPad. In this case I gusss it wasn't needed!
So...I dunno if anyone here's into beekeeping, but this guy is the biggest geek I've seen all month. Really fascinating listen. I now know way too much about checking for swarming behavior, and correct hive construction and deconstruction.
I'm at my family's place and looking through my old school closet. I have about a foot high stack of old Popular Science and Computer Gaming magazines and wondering what to do with them. I have no illusions of them being worth anything but wondering if there is any posterity value for them.
Yeah this isn't how that works. It's cool, but incorrect in all sorts of ways. "Dragging" implies resistance, and also isn't how comets work; the direction a comet is moving has no bearing on the direction of it's tail, which is material blasted off of it by solar wind. There is a very, very slight "dragging" effect, but it's caused by the light speed propagation of gravity, and it's not even arranged like this anyway.
The solar plane is not tipped 90 degrees relative to the galaxy. It's only about 60 degrees, IIRC, and solar plane orientation is basically random due to the difference in scale between the galaxy and stars. Within the solar system, however, we can see immediate proof about how bullshit this model is by the fact that our moon doesn't corkscrew around the earth pole over pole but instead orbits around us parallel to the Earth's orbital plane. That ought to have tipped you off.
It's wierd to post a McDonalds ad as a thing of the day, but this commercial is adorable. Cute song, pretty animation style, and fun premise. Too bad its used to push mediocre fast food. ;-)

A bit long though. Makes for a good podcast
This is just really well done in general.

Nature is amazing.
Its pretty much a lock that Mukwege will win a Nobel Peace Prize for what he's done.
