And he's fucking gone. Adios, mad monk. 54-44 in Turnbull's favor on the final vote. Julie Bishop takes a diagonal step to deputy, 70-30. No word on if Abbot supporting members will remain in their positions, resign their cabinet spots, or whatever else.

We have the Australian Tony Soprano as are stand in leader woo.
Better than the mad onion eating monk but I'd still prefer Labour to take power, Turnbull is presented as educated and most of the public are sold on it but not me, especially with how he responds to communications technology questions.

On the bad side the right wing European politicians are using Australia's stupid "stop the boats" bullshit action as an ideal.

I'd rather Someone other than the libs, too, but I'll call the more moderate, somewhat sensible Turnbull over Abbot a small victory. And plus, I can't say Labour would be all that good if all they had was a campaign of hunkering down and just waiting for the opponent to destroy themselves. I want policy, not just (previously) sound electoral strategy. Turnbull might be far closer to center than most of the last lib front bench, but he's still right-wing. It's just that he's appealing enough to make in an election, rather than a massacre.

I don't know enough about comm tech to comment there. I do know that there's a number of issues where he's been spending a lot of time talking out both sides of his face, on account of not wanting to suffer punishment from the party whip for not singing the party tune.

Also, have you seen the RWNJ crowd(Example - Bolt and Jones, + their collected audiences) trying to get Corey Bernardi to form a Far-Right political party? Because now that Abbot's been exiled to the backbench, apparently fucking maniacs don't have enough representation.

I had no idea these guys existed. Wow.
I agree totally that Turnbull is a step up.
I was considering how having a few more seats of Greens would affect the scene but can't see it as something game changing.
Hopefully we get another flag change referendum.
I personally though it was a good idea for New Zealand.
I have no love for the Union Jack in the corner business.

I had the distinct honor of watching Mr. Jay perform that act in person. I was second row, 3rd from center on the left. It was incredible. Damn shame he's becoming more and more of a recluse with age.
  • The FatBoy bean bag is a great giant bean bag but the Bazaar Bag is just as good in quality and size and is a lot cheaper. You can check them out at http://www.hugebeanbags.co.uk/

Joke's on you, I've been a very simple markov chain bot this entire time.

  • Oh I love that so very much.

  • TBA - "The power of God, wielded by man"

While it's a B- level of anime, all of the omake theatre stuff from Blue Seed was meta and hilarious.
  • Combustable Campus Guardress is on the Tube.
  • I saw this painted on the highway while driving to work today. It gave me a bit of a post-apocalyptic world vibe.
