One thing I miss from the days of the BBS is the turn based gaming where you only did a few things once a day. I don't have the time to sit down and play long-haul games for hours and hours at a time. I do have five or ten minutes a day I can devote to playing a game where I just enter in a few orders and the game chugs away on its own until the next day when I get my results and make more choices.
Yes, they were just computerized PBMs but they were enjoyable and did not put me in the Civ-catatonia where the world would pass me by as I trudged away with that one charioteer exploring the whole world by himself.
I don't know about Legend of the Green Dragon, but we did have Legend of the Red Dragon. And Forum Warz is a lot like a bbs game, and it is pretty damn awesome.
We have wine on my island. I just upgraded my town to level 2 after getting a port, academy, and building a trade ship. This is a neat system. We'll see how it pans out.
I just read up a bit on Alliances and diplomat points. It looks like you have a limited number of treaties available to you, and you can only form one after a bit of economic research. I have my full power going towards it, so we'll see how long it takes. Anyone want to volunteer and be the alliance former? I will if you all like, but it's really up to you.
I think that if you are too far away from a town, you can't trade with them. I still need to validate this. Sounds like we may have factions in the forum...
Yeah, Me and Kiey have wine, Scott has stone, Andrew has sulfur. All we need is glass now.
So, how are we gonna decide the leader of the alliance? There is a leader, and three other management positions in the alliance. The Interior Minister handles all inside affairs and recruitment. Basically second in command. Then there are the General and the Diplomat, which rule over the armies and some of the economy of the alliance, respectively.
The only deciding factor in leader and Interior Minister is that they get resource bonuses. Does anyone care?
If so, I refuse to get suckered into one of those again
I think this is made by the same people as ogame (on account of the Ikariam Plus thing looking the exact same as Ogame Commander or whatever), but I can already see that this is a huge step forward from it. Maybe I will change my opinion, but I am much happier with this than I was/am with ogame.

That, and Nexus War > any other multiplayer browser game I've seen out there.
Oh, and I'm on Zeta too... somewhere.

Edit: Looks like you can settle across the whole server. We need to make a Geeknights island group.
It appears that you can get a palace as soon as the third research level of Seafaring. Looks like that is my next track after some economy research.
