  • Can anyone figure out how to even trade?
  • edited April 2008
So, Scott, whats the name of your leader Augustus I? or perhaps Aprilius I?

  • Ok, it looks like to trade you need to research Wealth and then build a Trading Post.

I built the trading post, but I'm still waiting for my research. I've already upgraded my academy to level three.
  • My town is level three and my academy is level two with maxed researchers. I'm I have conservation and pulley researched but I'm researching Well Digging so I can build a well in preparation for tonight when I will accumulate a ton of citizens. I've also built a warehouse.

I am Aedammair on Fasyos (12,21). The island has crystal (glass) and I'm making my way towards the wealth/trading post now. I have a bit of a late start, though.

Has an alliance been established yet?

  • No, you need to research Foreign Cultures and build embassies. Foreign Cultures is a pretty far down on the seafaring list so it might be a week before we get an alliance up.
  • Heh. Just joined. On Ustatia[63:15]. Special Resource is sulphur.
  • Bulios[6:37]
I guess I'm not cool enough for a special resource. Where does it say?

I'm in World Zeta on Hamois[16:30]

I'm also in World Delta on Supios[92:51]

Both my towns are called Byzantium.

Has anyone noticed how alike to Travian this game is?

Zeta, Blasios[81:81]. There's wood and sulphur.

  • I'm Viga Victorious in Zeta, Deneetia [37:100]

I have some wood. I don't really get this game though. I never played anything like this before. I think I might epic fail. Any tips?
  • /me gives up.

[61,7], there's a forest and sulphur pit here. And Hephaistos put a forge on this island so I'll be going for that 10% bonus in Sulphur mining.

    Oh, name is Nineless.

Can anyone who has gotten their trading post fully built tell the rest of the class if there is more that we will be required to do in order to trade within the FRC group? Aside from the obvious answer of actually accumulating product, I am concerned about the fact that we are so spread out across the board and figure that we might be required to set up shipping as seafaring is a good chunk of the game.

  • Wow, having an army is fucking expensive. Their upkeep is steep, even for the weakest units.

I've got just one of the weakest units. I'm going to basically spend all my resources on research and production and not build an army until I am amazingly huge.

And make a nice little list of anyone who tries to pillage in the meanwhile?
  • Alright I'm in, I'm on Lusheos[26:77] with the city-state of Acadia.

For military it looks like you should only really use the Phalanx, as they have really high defence values for relatively little upkeep.

My island is relatively quiet, so far.
  • How about posting some screenshots? My work blocks the site.
  • Does the progress you've made in one research topic remain if you switch to another subject?
  • Does the progress you've made in one research topic remain if you switch to another subject?
    Yes.
  • only partly, if you're part way through say the "paper" tech and you switch to something else, "pitch" for example all your progress will change to pitch and you'll have to start from the beginning of "paper" again.
  • edited April 2008
Wait, what? That doesn't make sense.
    Post edited by Starfox on
  • Alright, right now I am getting "Wealth" in the Economy field, currently I have it about 75% done (so 108ish points), but if I changed to "Paper" in the Science field those points would instead go to finishing "Paper" and further into what is next on the tech tree. In the end causing me to have no points towards my coveted "Wealth" tech.
  • So these points aren't tech-specific: you have x tech points, and you can switch them into whatever you want?
That's weird. It seems to me like research you put into one tech should stay put, even if you switch what you're researching. As long as you don't lose your progress, I guess it's okay.
  • WHAHAHAHAA!!!

Fear my great wall of sticks... and no stones yet.

The Academy is at level two, has already researched 'Conservation' and is now busy with 'Well Digging'. Two hours remain for that. The rest is lvl 1. Now you might wonder, where the hell is all his wood? Or gold for that matter. In the saw mill! And the wonder. Concerning the saw mill everybody donates (if they're nice) wood to up it. I now can put 40 men to work to produce 40 wood, instead of 30.

As for the wonder, do not donate money if you can't pay for the next blessing. Some guy snatched the blessing just from under my nose with 50 gold when 42 was enough for the blessing. The next blessing is at 155,threemorenumbersdamnit.

I'm gonna upgrade the town hall before I get to bed.
