If you want to get out of the game feel free to ship all your goods to me
By your standards that's cheating. At least trade the goods for something in return. Or gather the resources yourself.
Anyways, my fleet is moving to 70,90 a marble island. 6 boats total with all the supplies I had left, some wine, a few marble from the destroyed tavern, 200 something sulphur and the remainder of wood that was left. The city that stays behind is doing research or paying tax, no resource gathering. It'll take some time to get the wood, stone and crystal put in the remaining buildings over to the new city.
I actually posted about the game over on my Pokemon forum. I forgot that most people who play the Pokemon games after beating the Elite 4 are OCD. Yeah, I think those players will stick with this game for the loooong haul!
I have plenty of supplies, what I don't have is plenty of time. I try to upgrade one short thing (less than 4 hours) when I get up in the morning and then set a long expansion (6+ hours) right before I leave for work. Other than that I launch a bunch of raids and write down the time when they should be available to raid again. When that time pops up I quickly log in, check the raid results and pick new targets. I get more supplies raiding inactive towns than I get from my own people.
I can't log in to the game from work so I only play for a bit in the morning and a bit in the evening. This is not Civ where you zone out for hours playing it. This is a game you check in on a few minutes a day and give orders. If there was an order que in the game you would not need to log into the game more than once a day. Perhaps that will become a paid feature?
Speaking of which, does anyone have any idea how they plan to make money off of this game? I've been reading the forum where they discuss things that are planned for future releases (pirate ships you can send after other player's trade ships) and it looks like there will be more of a confrontation system added in later. They also talk about a noob protection system so new players can not be instantly knocked out of the game. I'm guessing that means player elimination will come to the game in the future?
That is a paid feature. Or is supposed to be. Go check the benefits of paying.
I can't access the site from work. Can you copy/paste that info into a whisper for me?
When I was reading the thread on their forums about the outage last night the "paying" players were very irate and worried about having their towns sacked while they were unable to access the game. I'm guessing once you pass a certain level things get more violent?

No idea where I read it. As for the panicky paying players, I say paranoia. They probably have little to no army to maximize resources gathered and research done whilst still getting lots of money in. That Briel guy that attacked me with a huge force had no army when I attacked him. Just so he got more resources and money.
I suggest, the FRC forum as a whole create a browser game. If we only get to designing it, that's fun in itself. They who agree say aye and give feedback.
Aye. That'd be a hoot, but how would we do it? Is anyone fluent enough in HTML? Even something more along the lines of Kingdom of Loathing would be cool, at least for the aspects of art style and humor.

How did he build an army so fast? Can a high level barracks chug out swordsmen in under 5 minutes or something?

He has several colonies, all probably with a high level barracks and a lot of resources. And it took him several days before he retaliated. Even I could've build that kind of army in the same time.
Due to the magic of pillaging inactive members I just found a city that gives me 1500 resources when raided! They must have a high level port. I'm so glad I invested in trade ships.
In another 8 hours my palace expansion will be complete and a new colony will be founded.
Tell you what. I'll send you out a shipment of 300 marble as soon as my ships get back from transporting between my cities. If you can send something back, that's great, but otherwise, don't worry about it.
I just set up a marble colony a few islands away from my base.
I am amused. A guy who has attacked me twice (and is stationed on my base island) is now asking for peace since I am in an alliance. He never got much from me, so I didn't feel like adding him to the "blood enemies" list. Also, he thought one of us was attacking him when it was only a returning trade fleet. It's hard to stay mad at someone that cute.
Sometimes an inactive colony will have a high military number but that number is for all of their colonies combined. I send a spy in to check out their barracks and then attack!
I've got one on one of my islands that is in the 5K range for score and 65K range for military but the player is inactive and that city has no military. I'm raiding the hell out of that one for about 1200 resources and $25K per raid.

Thanks, 300 wine from me is on the way, a looooooong way.
I think I just found another loophole in the game.
I sent a boat full of swordsmen to pillage a village and they were turned away because of the enemy navy. There is no option to blockade the port! My only guess (I have a spy on the way) is that they have a shipyard but no trading port. This might allow them to have one warship in port to protect against invasions while stopping enemy ships from coming in because there is no port to blockade!!!
I also checked into their pay side and it is not that bad. You can buy 100 points for $15 (buy more and they cost a lot less). You can spend one point to magically turn any amount of Marble into Wine or whatever. Not too bad when (like me) you are in a spot on the map where Sulphur is being given away for 10gold but Crystal is selling for a minimum of 40 gold!
I am in dire need of any marble whatsoever. It looks like you are stuck until you can get some marble, because I am unable to upgrade any buildings, and I need them to gain access to trading farther out for marble. Ugggh. Anyway, if you can, send some marble my way. I have a ton of wood, if you need it.
For those trying to get into the Alliance its giving me issues when I try to transfer diplomacy points to the alliance. Once that gets worked out I'll be able to start adding people again.
It seems that the game is actually broken at the moment (according to the wiki,) and I am unable to transfer diplomacy points since the game won't allow you to. So those wanting to join the alliance will unfortunately have to wait.
Also I just founded my third city, Akrai, which is on a glass island.
So I'm curious how many of us are still playing this. I'm working on a third city (thank you Jason for the city raiding opportunity). One more and I have a nice complete set.

Anyone on here ever play Spaceward Ho! ??

There. Feedback given.

Surely I'm not isolated ...
