I like the fact it's something I can log in once or twice a day to manage things. I don't really have time these days to play any videos games (work, wife & kid ya know). Pus on the off chance it becomes real interesting, maybe we can alert the crew to a call to arms. It is only ver 0.2 after all.
I think I'm going to be giving up in a little bit. As I have 50 thousand gold and more marble than I can use. Also, you can't destroy people and I've seen people barely getting anything from looting, so there's no real point in that.
This game is actually quite boring. It's a good concept, but it's just not worth anything. Kongregate.com or jayisgames.com are far more rewarding as ways to get your gaming fill online with a large variety of neat games, but I know they don't always fill the need of "online browser-based game to play with friends".
I don't know if any of you have heard of a game called Tycoon Online (just google it). It's not the greatest, but it's decent; you have to build up a company, buy shares, etc. It's decent enough. Also, there's a game called Lords that's also quite fun.
I'm still in. Should be establishing my fourth colony tomorrow some time.
Once you get your cities up in the level 8+ range everything takes 8+ hours to build. In that respect the game only requires a couple of logins a day. When I find those ripe inactive cities than I get a little bit busier and send off my pillage fleets over and over again.
Jason, how big is your port and do you have any military in town? I attacked a town that was filling up 9 cargo ships worth of stuff. It might fill up more but I only 9 available when that raid when through.
I'm still going for now as well. I'm currently 'reaping' the benefits of an inactive town near me with a thriving wine crop. No military to speak of save for the Town hall a level 8 wall. Two slingers of every five I send at it survive. Two ships fill with each pillage as well. I just got my research done for Cultural Exchange so I'm now building my first Museum.
I sent about 700 Sulphur to you Kiey, hope that helps. Should be there in a day and some odd hours.
Edit: If you could send me some marble or crystal, that would help immensely. Either send it to Vhdblood on Crokios (27:9) or Vamp on Cusoios (68:91). That is, if you can spare it.
It seems that for an economy focused person, you need to focus on Crystal and Marble, for a battle oriented person, it's more Sulphur and to a lesser extent Marble and Wine. I'm trying to get my third settlement up, but I'm having to increase my warehouse to hold all of that wood.
I was just looking at the time to upgrade costs for things beyond level 12.
Um... This game pretty much tops out around level 15 for most buildings. It goes from hours to days to months and years in only a few levels. Who is going to bother upgrading a building that takes a year to upgrade? The real limiting factor is the warehouse.
I'm building my fourth colony now and once it is set in motion I will only be checking on the game every few days. As it is all of my sawmills and such are maxed out and I have people to spare.
I signed up a few days after you guys discovered this. I just deleted my account.
I kept waiting for a challenge. It never came. The only reason that I hung in as long as I did was because there was no grinding. I had, or could easily buy, everything that I needed.
I've been reading their forum to find answers and it looks like once you hit the stuff that takes more than a day to build you just don't build. In the next release they often cut the time down so it's not worth building something that takes a week when the next build will drop it down to a day build time.
Also, the real game appears to start once your Alliance becomes strong. Then you announce wars against other Alliances and battle to the death.
There is a problem with Ports in that keeping them low level defeats your ability to win much in a raid but, if everyone in your Alliance attacks the town for the max of 6 attacks per 24 hour period you can still empty out their warehouse and take a lot of their gold.
Another problem I am running into is that you can not blockade an inactive town. This means if the town has even one ship in port you can not attack it unless you are on the same island (land invasion). Supposedly Occupying of towns takes care of this but that feature is currently turned off.
I'm building my fourth colony now and the price to upgrade my palace further will first require a week or so of upgrading my warehouse.
The game has many good things but you need to be able to destroy otherscitiescolonies otherwise the game becomes pointless.
I agree, you do need to be able to lay waste to your enemies. It looks like Occupation is one way to do it in that you gain control of the town but you have to pay for the military deployment the whole time. I keep a buffer of $100K in the bank at all times to help pay for my rampaging forces.
I may be luckier than most in that I have a few undefended inactive towns near me that give 25K per raid. My cargo fleet is over 35 strong (they cost over $75K now) and most of my cities have 4 action points. The hardest thing for me is keeping track of how many times I have raided each city and when I can raid it again. I have also had a few instances where my guys came back with 9 or 10 ships full of loot and it would not all fit in my warehouse!
I left my colonies for awhile and few people have been raiding me. I have heaps of cash now and it is time for pay back. If anyone else is still playing and wants to help me raid these looters let me know.
Dito here as well. Almost on my fourth city (which will make a full set). What I really like is so long as you've built up a fair army with a couple cooks you can leave them and poke your head in once a couple of days to tweak things. So long as your not activity trying to go out and attack people it's a nice little environment.
I aim for the inactive cities, send in a spy and decide if it is worth attacking or not.
My best yet provided me with 29 ships worth of loot.
I am up to 4 cities and hitting that fifth one will be tough. The resources required to hit a level 5 palace are quite high. I might just create that level 5 palace and use the next colony as a staging area to pillage inactive towns with navies. Just build it on the new island and transport some troops. Pillage from there and then send the goods to one of my "real" cities.

EDIT: Holly crap, some dude has been attacking me since yesterday afternoon.
