What other MMO do you think the other people are playing?
What if some people just stopped playing WoW and never picked up another MMO?
Wait, all 3 companies are going down the "shit hole"? But everyday I read on the internet that Nintendo is "printing" money. Is it all wrong?
Is this supposed to be in green? From what I understand from reading around Andrew's and Dkong1026's argument, the games are going down the "shit hole," not the company. The complaints are that we aren't getting any good games in their opinions, and this E3 was lame, so it's not a god sign. Or something to that effect. I got lost during the argument.
That's essentially it. Nintendo's making a killing off of the Wii and Wii Fit. According to VGchartz (not sure how reliable they are...they were the first google hit I got), Wii Fit has 5.4mil sales and Brawl has 6mil. To me, that's scary, especially considering that the Wii fit costs almost double that of Brawl.
EDIT: Freakingly useless numbers in your username added to properly indicate the fool that's being quoted.
Jesus. 10-26 is my birthday...and I tend to use that at the end of most of my online handles. Sue me for fucks sake. What's the logical fallacy for targeting the person, not the argument, again?
Dkong wanted focus on Wii/Xbox 360/PS3
Well, it is an e3 thread. If yo guys wanna talk about gaming as a whole in 2008, you can start a new thread...

Well, it is kinda hard not to when you can't make your sure of themselves and what they're arguing about.
Whatever. I admit that the whole "hardcore" argument was retarded. I'm not retracting any of my statements about Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony, though.

Well, consider that in its entire lifetime, Super Smash Bros. Melee has only had 7 million sales, making it the best-selling GC game of all time (In its first two months, it exceeded 1 mil)
Even if "hardcore gaming" will be relegated to a small slice of the pie, if that slice is way bigger than the entire pie of yesteryear, should you even care?
What Dkong sees is this:- It is far more profitable to target games at huge demographics. (That's what "hardcore" and "casual" is really a question of, demographics - classify the gamers first, then classify the games based on the target audience) Given this, why will any game company even bother to target mine more specifically?
So, I guess, here's what Dkong wants to say:
Gaming began as a spectrum of niche markets; now it is becoming very mainstream. The spread of gaming to the mainstream is killing off these niches
My WoW playing friends have all told me that their servers used to be clogged as fuck...now it's tough to get people together for raids..
That is because WoW is getting ready to have an expansion. People stopped raiding before Burning Crusade because they knew all of their gear was going to be replaced by leveling greens. I haven't played WoW for a year or so, but I assume the same thing is going on.
Fallout 3 is my most anticipated game from what I've seen of it.
Console shooters are shit, any decent gamer knows this.
If decent gamers know this, than practically everybody who owns an XBox 360 is not a decent gamer as all I ever see people playing on their 360s is Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, or Gears of War.

The term is Ad Hominem, however note how it's the EDIT. Not the main comment, which you just blatantly ignored. That sentence was peppered merely for gaining your attention and indicating my thoughts about you. Which you picked up later:
Whatever. I admit that the whole "hardcore" argument was retarded.
As for E3, never followed it, never will. So I'll be gone now.
What I meant by hardcore is something that doesn't involve me swing a remote around to pretend I'm drumming or playing the Saxophone. Nintendo seems to be more interested in targeting casual and first time players.
What was the worst, and the most fake thing of the key note was the lady up there, (Kim?), Who was talking about trying to be the cool mom and trying snowboarding. Whatever, the only hardcore games on the Wii is the Virtual console and Twilight Princess.

And that's bad because...?
Not every console has to pander to the "hardcore" gamer. You want hardcore games so bad? Get another console or PC that is more suited to that.
Also, some of us aren't grandmas, housewives, or 10-year-old girls (or any other flat stereotype usually picked to describe casual gamers), and yet still would consider ourselves casual gamers. That is, someone who likes video games, but isn't super into them to the level required of most self-described hardcore gamers. When did "casual" start to equal "bad" in the minds of gamers?
I don't see why you guys have such vitriol for the Wii controller, either. So far, I haven't run into any games that have really made me frustrated with using it. I don't have many Wii games (probably only seven to ten) but I've been satisfied with all of them except Wii Play (which was just kind of... there). Maybe the way the Wiimote works just isn't your style, ever think of that? Just sayin'.
When did "casual" start to equal "bad" in the minds of gamers?
Because we need to be "HARDCORE" or we're not true gamers in some people's eyes.
I once thought of myself as a hardcore gamer, however over the last year I found myself playing less video games and actually doing other things to spark my geeky heart. I've recently purchased The World Ends With You because I heard it's pretty awesome, and so far I'm not really digging it. Maybe because I'm not used to the battle system, but I find it a bit complicated. I'll probably give it another go, but I really enjoy the casual games more on the DS.
I mostly play my DS before I go to bed or when I'm waiting in line somewhere. When you're waiting in line, I find it easier to play the casual games vs. RPGs type games because at any given moment I might have to move or I no longer need to wait in line, so it's easier to save or finish what I'm doing in game like Picross or Cooking Mama vs. something like Animal Crossing or The World Ends With You. I know you can just put the DS in sleep mode, but I'll more than likely forget about what I was doing in the game because I really wasn't giving the game my full attention.
Yeah, I definitely play my DS more than anything else, mainly because I can play it on the train to work when I'm not reading or listening to podcasts. I like to train my Pokemans, tap to some Elite Beat Agents or Ouendan, drop some Tetris blocks, do some lawyerin' in Ace Attorney, or do some sudoku in Brain Age (shut up; I think sudoku is relaxing). I guess the closest I come to hardcore gaming on the DS is Phantom Hourglass, and even that's probably not nearly "hardcore" by some people's exacting standards.
On the Wii, I like Brawl, Mario Galaxy, Mercury Meltdown Revolution (it's strangely addictive), and Trauma Center best out of what I have. I also like the virtual console, since my parents never got me an NES or SNES as a kid and I want to catch up on the games I missed out on (I've been rocking Kirby's Dreamland lately). I don't really play the Wii all that much, though, because I prefer the convenience of portable gaming. Gaming is not my primary geekery, so if I'm going to plunk myself down in front of something for a few hours to the exclusion of all else, I'll probably end up watching an anime or a movie instead. With the DS, I can open it for a little bit whenever I want, wherever I am, and just put it back in my purse when I want to switch to something else.
Also, I dislike playing FPSs, RTSs, military games, and generally any game that includes a lot of heavy weaponry. I guess that counts me out of ever being considered a hardcore gamer, huh?
Anyway, I'm sorry for getting horribly off-topic. ^^;; Does anyone wants to discuss this matter further? I can make a casual vs. hardcore thread, if that's the case.
I don't hate the Wii, I just want to play interactive games that involve simple minigames like Wii sports resort or Wii Music. The concept and the hardware is there, it's just that the software that nintendo makes isn't.
Spore is getting me so pumped. Too bad there won't be a Mac Version. So it looks like I gonna have to get parrells or boot camp going. Yet what's odd is that creature creator works for the Mac.
Also, I dislike playing FPSs, RTSs, military games, and generally any game that includes a lot of heavy weaponry. I guess that counts me out of ever being considered a hardcore gamer, huh?
Not true. But I've already established how it's difficult to say why that's not true...so I really shouldn't bother. All I know is that that's not true.

Oh, yeah, my Mac is way over the Minimum.
