  • It only really gets to me when it becomes "I'm so great and everyone else sucks!" That makes me mad.
I am in a similar boat, but my annoyance point is when they put forth that their ways and points of views are the only way for ANYONE to be happy. I don't listen to the podcast THAT often anymore, I just look for particular topics that interest me/I wish to learn more about. It isn't that the quality of the show has changed greatly, it is more that I am familiar with many of the topics discussed and I either know or can make an educated guess what Rym and Scott have to say about the subject. I still hear some neat things, and learn a bit.

  • I understand why some like it and some don't, and I feel your pain Kilarney. There was a certain part about the show that I liked: two guys talking about their daily misadventures. My favorite episodes were always the ones were you guys just ramble on about the fun you had, like the Snow episode. I loved listening to Scott and Rym reminiscing. At other times I thought your shows were very intelligent.

However, I was always frustrated by their egos. They always seem to feel that they are the final say and that no one else matters unless they think highly of them or become convinced that they are right. They always said stuff was "awesome", when it would've sufficed to be a bit more humble. They'd never consider the possibility of being wrong; they're too egotistical to give up an argument. Sometimes it's good to be confident. However, to a guy who doesn't have a lot of confidence himself, someone who's able to see both sides of an issue and keep the possibility of being wrong open, someone who's respecting and humble (I know the irony of saying that, but I assure you, it's true. Maybe I'm just too weak to stand my ground ;( ), I just couldn't take it. I haven't listened since. I need to make decisions on my own, and two arrogant dudes telling me what's right and wrong just isn't going to cut it. Rym, Scott, I respect your intellect, your insight, and your confidence. I just don't respect your egos.
This is why I stopped subscribing, but I must say that Rym has a much bigger ego than Scott.

It's not necroposting if it isn't weeks old.

Yes, but he's so much more charming! He gots that joie de vivre!

Scott has to learn a bit more tact...

No, he is just more vocal about it on the show.

For you, maybe. I've listened to all the episodes to date, and I'm not sick of it yet.

Snarky, are we? Why so rude with someone that merely disagrees with you on a matter fo taste?

    I'm joking.

Hey! You picking a fight here?
Seriously, as a long time compatriot of the two, I need to tell you the show!Rym and show!Scott are not quite the same as their real life identities. I'm pretty picky about guys, and Rym is a pretty good person all things said and done.

One can be a great guy and have a ego ^_^

There is a question of degrees there. There is a point when being egotistical goes too far. Lets face it, most (or all) of the FRC has (have) an issue with inflated ego in one way or another.

I get the impression that most (or all) of the FRC are very smart people. I think very smart people, or really anyone who's very good at something has an inflated ego in one way or another.
  • Your ego isn't inflated if you actually are that awesome.
  • Rym is gifted and not shy about discussing it. That's fine. But who didn't enjoy watching Katsu pnwn him?

    Oh no you di'nt, biyatch.

I think no one can be as awesome as Rym and Scott claim to be. Exaggeration and personal perspective skew a lot.

I say selectiveness has a lot to do with it. They probably have their own falling over bucket moments.

I think there are quite a few of us that are fairly modest. Mr. MacRoss being one of those :-p

Coming from a self-proclaimed elitist who can't even spell his own username. ;)

Also, if liking Scrym counts as "low standards," that's fine by me. I'd hate to know what you would call the standards of people who like the vast majority of average mainstream radio and/or TV personalities.

I don't know what the big thing is here. Don't we all know they aren't as awesome as they actually claim to be? Sometimes I find myself thinking "Wow, these guys are hilarious and cool and I'd like to meet them sometime and..." Then I remember reality and think "No wait, these guys are dorks who have boring 9 to 5 jobs and do nothing the rest of the time but play games and read comics. They are the opposite of cool by every definition I know."

Still, I do find them funny.

Sounds like the definition of cool to me.
  • WATCH IT SCOTT. You're being dissed by a professional juggler.
