Yes, rotary engines are awesome, it's still an ugly gray in an other wise nature coloured image. Rotary engines do nothing to make a car look nice anyway.
Yes they do. By producing more power from a smaller engine, it allows car designs that would be entirely impractical with a typical engine.
It is my honest opinion that the innate properties of any particular engine may go to waste if the designers fail to capitalize on the advantage presented. This said, I personally have little interest in cars and feel I could not accurately judge the looks of this car myself.
The placement of an engine in relation to the chassis has everything to do with a car design.
This I know, but it has no effect on how a car looks. An engine can be placed in the front, the middle or the back. This can be done with every kind of engine. The looks of a car are determined by its body. The only argument that Scott can make is that you can make smaller cars, but we already have the Morris Mini! Which is a very small car with a piston-engine. If you make a car smaller than that, it becomes impossible to use for the majority of people.

That might be true, but the second gen RX-7 is not one of those cars. You can, without too much difficulty, replace the 1.3 liter Wankel engine with a 350 cubic inch Chevy V8. I am not condoning this action, but that RX-7 is not an example of a small car taking advantage of a small powerful engine.
The Lotus Elise does not use a Wankel. In fact the Lotus uses a Toyota 1.8 liter engine out of a Celica. The engine is not that powerful, but it is more then adequate for a it's weight.

I know it uses a Celica engine. But it's an example of a car taking advantage of a small and powerful engine, at least relative to the weight of the car.
I wonder how awesome a Lotus with a wankel could be...
Also, people don't seem to realize how cheap Lotuses are. If I lived somewhere without snow, I would have bought one.
Well, I've finally reinstalled ubuntu on my system, and I've gotten it to the point where I can do 90% of the things I wanted to do with it. (Still working on the audio visualizations, and networked folders.)

EDIT: If you are convinced you are right, draw me a picture.
edit: To add a useful example, would a Porsche 911 be able to look like it does if the engine were in the front?

I also printed this and this is going up in my car tomorrow before I go to work.
I thoroughly doubt anyone will have this wallpaper at a higher res but, if you've seen it, I really need it!
