Eileen Brennan goes to cancer at 80. Aw man, she was old but not really that old. That's sad. Her performance in Murder By Death is one of my favourite comedy performances of all time, and I know a lot of people loved her in Clue and such as well.

She was also in the very awesome movie The Last Picture Show.
The only reason I know about her because my grandmother and I would watch old Lawrence Welk reruns when I was in my teens. The woman had a tremendous set of pipes.
I predict that, within the next 20 years, labels will have their biggest artists get 3d scanned, record their dance routines using motion and performance capture technologies, and even put together samples for voice synthesis engines (akin to vocaloid). It'll be the beginning of the post-mortem music.
It's the same problem Microsoft has; they are their own biggest competitor. It is also something that Scrym have mentioned. Due to the sheer quantity of media old productions compete with new. With exceptions for production quality (better recording equipment and FX) everything new is competing with everything old and a lot of new productions are redos of old productions. All death means is no new material.

Just about everyone in the modern world knows Shakespeare and Mozart yet we don't have any recordings of them, just the things that they wrote.
Lou Reed is dead but his music is not.
James Randi's job just became a lot easier.
