Dude's work ethic and capacity for self-improvement was astonishing and he was weirdly kind of a role model for me. This is hitting a little harder than I thought it would.

I can definitely empathize with the loss of a well-known Internet celebrity.
I say this from experience - it should have fit if he just took out the driver and tossed it in the backseat.
Also, fun facts - they widened the body on the SL class in 2012 compared to the 2011 model for exactly that reason, because it couldn't fit a full set of clubs without removing the driver.
That's sad. It didn't seem like his disease was progressing that rapidly. I thought he was going to wait awhile longer.
Alzheimer's is a pretty awful thing. I remember reading an interview with him a couple of years ago where he said he was writing using speech-to-text software because he was starting to forget how to actually physically write.
His doc on assisted Suicide is extremely informative and well heart wrecking. I recommend it. I was actually wondering if he took his own life as that seemed to be his wish if he was unable to write.

I had assumed he did (or had help), as he stated that was his intent. I would be very surprised to hear otherwise.
Finding it weird about Terry Pratchett. I was REALLY into his stuff about 15 years ago, to the exclusion of all other literature. And in that immature way where you invest too much of yourself into a thing and get defensive when it's criticised.
I realised that by reading Pratchett to the exclusion of all else I would just get worse. I was feeding the angry kid inside. I think I've read only one book by him in the last decade.
I was pleased to read that Neil Gaiman article late last year about how we was an angry guy. I'd figured that out already but it was good to know I wasn't alone in that assessment. (You have to be a pretty angry guy to licence your world as an RPG setting to GURPS. )

Funny how much this car commercial captures the Leonard Nimoy we all loved.

Sad news indeed.
Yes, they are real.
There's something moving about a longtime author signing off with "The End".
It's actually sort of sad that he didn't get to go the way he wanted to.

Also, rather late, Stan Freberg.

He was 86, in fine health, and just returning from receiving a maths award from Norway's King Harald V.
