I mean, he was old enough that I wasn't shocked. But I was definitely surprised. He seemed, based on my vague consumption of the general media zeitgeist, to be in good health last I knew.
There's already adblockers that load the ads and just don't show them to you to get around this sort of thing. Now that's not optimal since you're not saving the bandwidth and it still looks kinda shitty (at least in my experience) with empty boxes where the ads would have been. I just wonder if we'll see adblockers start to do that as a backup only on sites that do this.
The future of ad-pushing: websites streamed as video, minimal HTML to detect click location. No politeness, just fuck the consumer right in the eyehole.
