That's too bad, especially since it was cancer He gave us something to make fun of Canada for besides poutine, maple syrup, aboot, and being nice people. And really, is a crack smoking mayor really worse than any of our corrupt politicians?
Crack smoking was not what made Rob Ford a terrible mayor. His Trumpish know-nothing right wing populism was.
Ed Snider, Founder and Owner of the Philadelphia Flyers has died at the age of 83 of cancer. He passed one day after the conclusion of the NHL regular season with the Flyers narrowly making the playoffs. The Flyers dedicated their late-season push to make it into the playoffs to him. In their final home game on saturday, anthem singer Lauren Hart facetimed with him during her rendition of "God Bless America" (a Flyers tradition) to "bring the Arena to him". Snider had spent the entire season in California for recovery from a medical procedure.
Snider was a true giant in the sport and one of the few "native" owners. He was not somebody who made his money in business and bought a franchise in a major league as a plaything. He made his money in sports and entertainment.
While I definitely have large disagreements with him politically, it is undeniable his influence on how he shaped the sport and my favorite team the Flyers in particular.
A lot of people throw shade on Duck Tales Remastered, and I undertstand their complaints, but it was very nice to hear the Duck Tales crew together one last time.

Rest in Peace, Ed. You will be missed.
