QUOTE, Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, on the latest news on healthcare -
Just because a couple people on the Supreme Court declare something to be ‘constitutional’ does not make it so. The whole thing remains unconstitutional. While the court may have erroneously come to the conclusion that the law is allowable, it certainly does nothing to make this mandate or government takeover of our health care rights.
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT IT MEANS. EXACTLY. HOW CAN HE SAY THAT IT'S NOT WHAT IT IS. JESUS GALLOPING FUCKCHRIST.
Yeah. Libertarian devotion to the Constitution makes things hard whent he Supreme Court does something stupid. Has R* Paul weighed in on Citizens United yet? Last time I checked Ron didn't have a Super PAC, which was part of why he didn't have much campaign money.
Taken from a Facebook comment from a friend of mine in regards to a post O made about being pleasantly surprised about the ruling:
"lolz we won't raise taxes... few years later yea were making this a tax and its constitutional so we are raising taxes for the middle class... YES WE CAN!!!"
Needless to say, he's not a fan of President Obama (he constantly refers to him as a "lying rat bastard") and thought that the health care bill was a bad idea from the start. He is also a Ron Paul supporter, so yeah.
I love how most of the complaints are just something about socialism or taxes, and not actual well thought-out criticisms. Hmm, I wonder why that is...?

drives me crazy. you know what gets me even more? people opposing something in their self-interest.

If Obamacare gets repealed, with the working-class Republican voters who helped do it mourn their vast ignorance as they lie dying with cancer, heart disease, and organ failures they cannot afford to treat?
Or, as we are expected to believe, will they stoically bear the impossible agonies, smiling through hollow cheeks and sunken eyes as they whisper, "I gave my life for the good of my country?"
I'm seriously unimpressed by Obamacare. Maybe it's just because I've lived under Romneycare for my whole life, but Obamacare seems so milktoast it would be better if it didn't pass so that Democrats wouldn't ease up on the issue (I'm not saying they will totally, but I suspect most of the PR is going to move on to other topics).

I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader. ~_^

Rand Paul is the Ken Ham of politics. let's compare:
Q-If God created the world 6,000 years ago or so, why are stars millions of light years away?
A-Brendon, what a question! Yes, we know from the dates God gives us in the Bible that He did create the whole universe about 6,000 years ago. When we hear the term light-year, we need to realize it is not a measure of time but a measure of distance, telling us how far away something is. Distant stars and galaxies might be millions of light-years away, but that doesn’t mean that it took millions of years for the light to get here, it just means it is really far away!
Obamacare IS milque-toast BUT it's the only foothold we were likely to get in an environment where Republicans have already undone about 75% of the New Deal and are eyeing the remaining 25% hungrily.
Some major shit needs to go down soon to prevent us from returning to worker conditions at the beginning of the industrial revolution.

That said, an Obamacare-like program, if set up correctly, can work. It works in Switzerland, for example.
This ruling may have limited that option working. They said fed cant make threat to a state of expanding Medicare or lose all Medicare funds. I still haven't heard on what Constitutional basis that decision was made.

That's going to suck if a lot of states choose not to expand Medicaid. I can imaging R's asking "Did the bill benefit you? No?! We told you so." Or if they take the money, some other nonsense about socialism and freedom of monies.
That might lay the groundwork for reducing the Fed's ability to manipulate state traffic laws through the withholding of funds.
Ah, this reminds me of the "right turn on red laws" that Massachusetts attempted to get around by putting a "No turn on red" sign by every traffic signal. That didn't go so well for MA...
So the blue states accept and the red states don't. After a few years we'll know how well it works.
Yay! Experimenting! ...of course I don't like how my life is one of things being experimented with, especially since SC basically tries to kill me on a daily basis anyway... some of the crumbling roads and lack of traffic enforcement reminds me of Death Race 2000.

So this means you can equip your car with machine guns?
I've looked into what is and isn't street legal a lot (odd since I can't drive). You can't get away with that yet, but you can try and take them to court over the 2nd Amendment. That would be an interesting ruling.

Should make a government based on experimental government. Each region is separated into zones where different policies are tried out. Oh wait. -_- Would be an interesting book tho.

Not that he's not said some really, really stupid stuff. Just not that particular stupid thing.
Would be an interesting book tho.
Here's a good quote:
