Fail: The sexy fountain pen I ordered is in the mailbox. The key to said mailbox has disappeared in the time that everyone's been gone for the holidays so I have to go complain at the office.
Aw yeah, the vic is pretty good. I enjoyed it quite a bit - I think I still have one of their key lanyards around somewhere, I know I still have one from ARC and one from Kobe out at Horsforth, among others.
Boo-Yah: I did pretty darn well at my interview today with the FAA. I think the interview panel was very impressed with my fast and well detailed answers.
Possible Fail: If I get the job, I may not be able to go to PAX East. That's only "if" I get offered and "if" I take it. There is a lot to be considered.
I did a musical comedy gig on Sunday and it went down pretty badly with the audience. Part of this was due to the two comedians on before me tanking, and bringing the energy of the room way down, and partly due to me not winning the audience over properly to begin, and then the bad piano placement in that venue meaning I play with my back to a lot of the room.
But tonight I performed at another show and rocked the house. I got probably one of the best reactions to my music ever, which is very satisfying. I know this is partly because the atmosphere was really good, and I started with my most reliable opening number. But it must be partly to do with me being awesome, right?
Fail: I lost my chance to get tickets for Dan Harmon in Virginia Boo-Yah: I will still try to go and if not I at least will have Ni No Kuni next week. Hey, I take what I can get.
Boo-Yah: I got a bunch of computer parts today, and threw them together, and successfully POSTed!
Minor Fails: Apparently it's no longer a given for motherboards to support PATA ribbon cables, so I have to buy a new disk drive, and my case needs slightly longer screws for the hard drive than they usually come with, which will temporarily prevent me from reusing my old hard drive.
But Still Boo-Yah: I should have a new computer fully armed and operational by the end of the day Thursday!
I have a HP Jornada palmtop computer that can print via RS-232. Actually, I have a wireless B card for it as well, but I need a Windows XP computer to install activesync on so I can install the wireless drivers for it.
Oddly, I've only used FPCs recently, my sound card needs one to get clean power from the PSU and the other for the IDE to SATA connector on the old disc drive, as it works fine so I wasn't so bothered to get a fancy shmancy new drive.
Fail - Friend of my younger brother popped up on Facebook with a long status, beginning with "WAKE UP PEOPLE." Hoo boy. Follow that with an extensive ramble on how genetically modified salmon are being made under the FDA's nose, that they'll be released into the wild, eat dolphins, make sharks and other large predators go extinct, etc.
I did my due diligence and asked for her sources. She shot back one self-referential article from some sketchy holistic life website, and two links that only report on the controversy, and not the science. So, I respond explaining why those sources don't actually say anything useful, and follow that up with my thoughts on why it's ludicrous to jump to those conclusions (including a brief explanation of the slippery slope fallacy.)
Boo-yah - She responds immediately after, saying that she'll need to do more digging, and may decide to make this a long-term research project. The girl is 16. If there's something she gets credit for, it's being willing to admit that, and go out and do more research before freaking out. Props to her.

Fail: Reading "The Given Day" for US History (same teacher)
Boo-Yah: on the flip side, my parents just broke out some Laphroaig 10.
Fail - I managed to spill nearly a whole pint of beer all over myself late in the evening.
Double Fail - I wasted beer!

Fail: it took me 3 days to realized I screwed it up

Did you POST first time?
Y'all remember RS-232? We've come a long way, baby.
Fail: So much more to do...the main flaw is lack of graphic skills to help me make it look nicer.

Boo-Yah: Road hazard policy on all 4 tires and wheels - so the fix/replacement will literally cost nothing besides time.
