Fail: MTV is a horrible company and hasn't paid me in 3 weeks Booyah: I am quitting that shithole and will have more time to spend with my family, friends, and actually play more games instead of writing about them.
Fail: Will miss the little bit of money side job provided, endless stream of free games, and Z-list internet/board game industry recognition. Booyah: I don't need the money, have too many games now, and don't care about about the rest. I'm still keeping my occasional contributor spot at Wired so I still have an outlet for writing stuff if I get the itch.
It's hard to explain the amount of time it took out of an otherwise already busy life to write up quality content for that blog. It's been getting harder and harder with added dayjob and family responsibilities, so I just don't need the frustration anymore.
I think you overestimate the amount of money writing a few blog posts per week pays. It is indeed ridiculous, and I'll make sure I get my money, but part of the reason I'm leaving is to not have to deal with the frustration. Lawsuit = incredible frustration to go through a pissing match.
Write a blog post about MTV's blogger payment practices, send it to BoingBoing. You'd get insane hits, a good following, and start a much-needed conversation.
Fail: Partied too hard last night. Threw up four times in rapid succession because i'm an idiot and hadn't eaten since 11am. My visiting friend was hella sick for similar reasons.
Booh-yah: Got up at 10am. We watched The Wire for three hours while drinking tea and cuddling. So nice!
The trouble is that I can't get a job. Even if I had one, I would have to save my money until I could afford to leave my parent's house. That's not enough. After that I would have to graduate and leave the state. I know there are liberal pockets in Texas, but I think it would be for the best if I left this logic-forsaken hellhole. ...
Everyone I know IRL who lives in Texas is trapped there for monetary reasons and trying desperately to leave.
Wow wow wow. Apparently, Lexapro and NyQuil have mad synergy. Took two for the Hell Cold, and I feel a lot better. Unfortunately, I am now (possibly) accidentally robotripping.
I don't know what robotripping is like, but I know that I don't feel particularly sick or particularly sober right now. Time to take a journalism quiz!
No, it was Games Expo in Birmingham - on the 24-26th May. Might be more of a big trade fair with gaming on the side but you never know till you go really. Only problem was that it is based in a Hilton hotel so the room cost is quite high, then I realised it was on the same weekend as Magic Weekend so I have to choose between gaming or rugby.
Boo-yah: because of a mixup at Best Buy I got an Xbox console mit skyrim, mit headset for $99 with no contract obligation. Fail: I gotta purchase another gold membership for my Live account <_<
Fail: My friend roommate is moving out because somewhere else is cheaper, so I'm gonna have to deal with another rando-roommate.
Boo-yah: Friends' dreams coming true all over the place today. One is getting Tofubeats to rap over a track he made and the other won a filmmaking contest and is going to Sundance.
Boo-yah: My girlfriend was totally awesome and got me a Minecraft pickaxe bottle opener from think geek. Fail: I can not think of something equally awesome to get her.
Boo-yah: Best New Year's of my life. A 72-hour-long party, with little 6hr breaks for sleep.
Fail: I am the most tired I have been since I struggled with depression-related insomnia, and I am so sore that I will probably need a hot bath before bed.

Fail: Amoxicillin is basically cholera; I'm insanely dehydrated and probably losing weight.
