  • Well then, enlighten me with what you think I should do to get the effect I desire?
You can't. I mean we still call Nineless Nineless and he's changed his name a million times.

Is it really that big of a deal people? It's a simple request that takes only a little bit of effort. Sail does it just fine, if he can do it, the rest of you are more than capable of doing so as well.

    Exactly; stop complaining about it.

You youngsters and your indecisive screen names, I've had two handles my entire life, quit changing it, it just gets confusing.

As you can see I've changed my initial response. But this name change is for real this time. Why do you care so much about it is my question? Sure you've gotten used it, but change is good. If someone wants me to call them something else I'm more than happy of adjusting to do that, unless they tell me to stop at which point I will.

    That's probably true.

Matt, some people will call you Matt, some people will not. You'll have to live with it. Some people just enjoy needling people, and if you let on that it's getting to you, it only encourages them. Didn't everyone's mom explain this when they were in elementary school?

It's hard to change what you call someone once you get used to it, Matt. Additionally, the discussion was mostly about Emily correcting someone, not you.
I wasn't responding to what Emily said. I responded to what Sail said.
    No, when Kate said
    Lay off the noob, people.
Make the point and move on.
it was mostly in response to Emily saying
    Your what now?
Actually, it was more to the people that belabored the point. She made the point and then others chimed in.

We don't care that much about it, but we do get annoyed when you keep going on about it.

Yeah...I'm being completely honest with myself when I make this statement. In fact I'll say it again: This name change is for real this time.

I don't care, I still stand by what I've said.

One thing I find interesting and have actually seen on a couple of occasions is that often times when people who meet other people on the internet actually meet each other in real life, they don't call each other by their screen-names, they call each other by their real names. Maybe that's just me, but regardless I've seen it happen and I find it somewhat interesting.

  • So anyway, in the mecha panel we run we brought up the point that no matter how many times people in anime jump in mecha they've never seen and can pilot them, you can't do this in real life.

me: If you can pilot a mecha, stand up.
    *one dude stands*
    *audience starts cheering*
me: Hold on, stop your cheering!
    *quiet again*
me: Can you play Steel Battalion?
    dude: *unsure* Kinda...
    me: Sit your ass down!
    *laughter*

It all depends on the mecha in question. For example, all it takes to pilot a mecha from Eva is to not be emo.

Yupa, Matt, Geoffino, etc. My question is this: Are you Sting? No? Then stop with this silliness.
You are cool when you aren't whining, so please stop. I keep calling you Yupa because 1) It was how I got to know you and I associate you with that name; 2) It is a cute name that seems to fit you; and, 3) To help you gain the maturity to stop whining about silly stuff like this. Seriously, you are a neat guy, but this sort of pretense and petulance can get in the way of that. Sit back and laugh at this situation, because it is genuinely funny. Grow from it.
Know that I wouldn't bother if I didn't think your were neat.

We were specifically on Gundams at that point.
  • About the number of moderators, I think our three mods(four if you count Mr. Period) are plenty. We have sigificantly fewer rules than other forums, for one thing. For another thing, I've been on forums that collapse from having too many moderators because they begin to argue amongst themselves. Having just Rym, Scott, and Andrew ensures that the people in charge are generally on the same page.
  • I completely agree with Sail.
Also, we are a fairly tame lot for the most part.
