What movie have you seen recently?

  • Then I watched an episode of Big Bang Theory, and wished I hadn't.
I've watched a grand total of five episodes, and frankly, that's enough for me. It's Will and Grace with SCIENCE!, geeks, and an aspie.

The Green Hornet was alright. The fight scenes were enjoyable. We watched it in 3D because it was the closest showtime and we had free passes. The 3D was underwhelming and as I thought before, the movie didn't need to be in 3D like many movies are being made that way.

What really got me was the trailer for Sucker Punch. I know there is a lot of buzz on the internet about it, and I never really looked into it or try to see what it's about. I probably won't see it on the big screen, but only check it on on DVD or something. The premise looks awesome. Jeremy and k pretty and dolled up.

As for another preview for Fast Five. I totally want to see that. It's a popcorn flick. Just seeing them all together and witI have decided it's basically a live action anime done by an American director. I just couldn't get past the fact that all the girls in the so-called asylum were all done up with gorgeous hair and makeup. Ugh. At least be somewhat realistic and have them look normal, but when they are in their imaginary world fighting off bad guys, have them looh Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, I will not be disappointed.

Don't worry, a good dose of "Community" can wash that bad aftertaste.

What episode was it the first? Because the show gets quite funny as it goes along.

Not sure why people like it.
Because we remembered what Tron was and set our expectations accordingly?

The movie was fine. Your taste in movies is wrong. But we already knew that. :P

It's a Zack Snyder flick. The only person who stylizes more (and doesn't even do it as well) is Michael Bay.

I know, but it could have been cooler if they weren't so dolled up. Alas, it's just fap material for the young horny boys.

I also have a thing against blonde female actresses. I'm rarely impressed by them. Well there is Chloe Moretz who plays Hit Girl in Kick-Ass, but I really can't think of any other blondes that I've enjoyed in most films. I'm biased.

I enjoyed the movie (because I set my expectations low) but I wouldn't say it was good or anything to get excited about.
  • Tron was okay, and, like I said, the visuals were good. I just thought the main character was boring.

Yeah; it was exactly what I expected, and it was entertaining, but nothing more.

This video emcapsulates the only two reasons that anyone (including me) was excited about Tron Legacy: Olivia Wilde and Daft Punk.

Doesn't that mean you liked it? You said "I don't know why people like it." Liking a movie and thinking that movie was good are two very different things.

EDIT: I too agree about the movie. It wasn't good, but it was good enough. Despite its lack of goodness, I enjoyed it a lot.

  • Once Upon a Time in the West; or The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly?
  • I've seen the latter, and it's awesome. I don't know about the former.

No, I enjoyed the movie for what it was but did not like it for what it could have been.
  • I liked Tron for (some of) its visuals, but Emily is right. Young Flynn had very little going for him. He was petulant and uncharismatic. His personality wasn't nearly as interesting as those of a couple of the more... flamboyant... programs.

  • Just finished "Once Upon a Time in the West". I have to admit that I've never really been a big fan of westerns and I'm not very well versed in the genre, so take from what I'll say what you will.

Anyway, the movie is very slow moving. Reading from wiki, this is very intentional, but at times it seems to stretch to the point of breaking. Lots of people staring at each other, lots of close-up shots, but not really any meaningless scenes. However, I was really amazed with the visuals and the very thematic soundtrack the film uses. I find it just very unfortunate that the visual that pretty much everybody who hasn't lived under a rock since the movie was released knows, no matter whether the person has seen the movie or not, is basically a very crucial spoiler to the story and gives away one of the main motivations of the movie, which is supposed to be shrouded for almost the entirety of the movie.

Finally, a small personal opinion, I think the german name of the movie "Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod" (Play the Song of Death for me) is a lot cooler than the original or english title.
  • Westerns are definitely very slow as a general rule, but I still enjoyed The Good, The Bad and The Ugly quite a bit.
  • Black Swan is halfway between Princess Tutu and Perfect Blue, just as everyone said. Thoroughly enjoyable.

The Exam was surprisingly entertaining. It's a They Were Eleven sort of thing with a 12 Angry Men twist. The guard in the room gets mad acting points.

That makes me want to see Tutu more. The parts of the movie that made me freak out the most was when the painting really subtly moves to look at her, then when it happens again with all the paintings screaming. I also really enjoyed the climax with the transformation..

  • Friday night is Cajun Night at my friend's house, with a Hausu/Black Dynamite double feature, with a possibility of a triple feature with Ebola Syndrome. I'm cooking up 10qt of Jambalaya and a 12" skillet of cornbread for the occasion.

I might even rebrand some Mickey's forties as Anaconda malt liquor and put them in an ice bucket for dinner. It makes you Ooooooooooooooooooooooooh.

Props to Sail for the suggestion of Hausu.

Better to watch SARS wars. That's much more watchable.

SARS Wars is actually funny. Ebola Syndrome... well... it is what it is.
  • Uh,

    Attack the Gas Station
  • Attack the Gas Station
    Doesn't have a disease name ^_^
  • Are you sure you want to watch Ebola Syndrome? Are you really sure?
And remember: if you answer "yes," you're wrong.
  • Despite dire warnings to the contrary, I watched Cool World. Twice. Just because I couldn't believe it the first time.
