Yeah, my brother just got one to play OoT, and I have to say, it's really making me want one too. The built in software is fun, the AR Pokedex was a surprisingly awesome move by Nintendo, and of course OoT. I was so-so on 3D before, but one look at Hyrule Field during the title screen flyover and I was sold; it was incredible. I'm starting to think I may buy one around the end of the summer, depending on how much money I have leftover from working in the lab after I build my desktop, as this fall has a ton of games (finally) coming out, then sell it next summer when the 3DS Lite inevitably comes out.
Unprecedented. Glad to see them finally get their comeuppance! Also, coincidence the first Nintendo handheld since the GBC that I didn't buy on launch day is the one that is fail. I know what I doing.
I love how their concilation prize for people who paid full price for their 3DS is to give them a pile of virtual console games. It's a significantly large pile of games, which is a lot better than what SONY gave people for the PSN outage. Even so, it's kind of pointless in the face of piracy cards.
If I were Nintendo, I would let all VC games be FREE on the 3DS. That would drive the sales sky high. Then only charge for DSWare and cartridge games.

If you are a pirate :-p
Honestly I think it's competition is mobile gaming/Ipad/Nook stuff/small laptops are eating up all of their market share. I know I've been using my laptop to game way more then my DS (and I have A LOT of cool fun games to play on the DS)
That shit is bananas. Not too pissed I already bought one though, it was worth it to be able to have it during AX and 20 VC games is a lot. Also I'm looking forward to more people having 3DSes as a result of this.
Didn't realize that they were going to release GBA games on the VC either, but that's great news.
I am now SERIOUSLY considering getting one. This is not a price cut. This is damage control. Nintendo trying to get ANY traction for the 3DS.
This should really only be the first step. Nintendo needs to get some more big name games out in the market along with drop the price if they want it to really take off like the DS did.

Any by "more" you meant "any" right? Paper mario would almost do it. Perhaps Mario Kart. But not OOT. Not that alone.
Kid Icarus: Uprising is supposed to be coming out somewhat soon (EDIT: scratch that, there is just a vague 2011 date now), Mario Kart 7 is coming out for the holiday season along with Super Mario 3D, Paper Mario is November and Star Fox is coming out in September. They're definitely turning around the lack of games later this year, but it's going to take a lot for them to turn around the poor launch of the handheld.
You're lucky you're getting any Starfox at all. Miyamoto is ready to just trash the franchise altogether.
Because it wasn't selling well, unfortunately. Miyamoto is going all for srs, and based on the footage I've seen, it's making Zelda: Skyward Sword totally awesome.
So I was reading more from the press release and some games are exclusive only to "Ambassadors"/people who purchased the 3DS at $250.
Starting Sept. 1, Nintendo 3DS Ambassadors will be able to download 10 NES™ Virtual Console™ games at no charge and before they are available in the Nintendo eShop to the general public. These games, including Super Mario Bros.™, Donkey Kong Jr.™, Balloon Fight™, Ice Climber™ and The Legend of Zelda™, are slated to become paid downloadable games, but Ambassadors get them early for free. Once the paid versions of the games are posted to the Nintendo eShop later in the year, the updated versions will be available to Ambassadors for download at no cost.
By the end of 2011, Nintendo will provide Ambassadors with 10 Game Boy Advance Virtual Console games. These include games like Yoshi's Island™: Super Mario™ Advance 3, Mario Kart™: Super Circuit, Metroid™ Fusion, WarioWare™, Inc.: Mega Microgame$ and Mario vs. Donkey Kong™. These games will be available exclusively to Ambassadors, and Nintendo currently has no plans to make these 10 games available to the general public on the Nintendo 3DS in the future.
I wonder if that Yoshi's Island is the Super Mario World 2 or the other Yoshi's Island.

Something to consider.Wow, so Metroid Fusion will never be released to non ambassadors? Hey Nintendo... Fuck you.
Sadly, I could kind of see something like this happening. Kids don't want to play Mario or Zelda or even Madden or GTA on their portable game system now, they want to play Angry Birds or one of a million of these other games you play for a couple of minutes and then are done with. Either that or Apple has just mesmerized this whole generation with "It's popular, you want it because it's popular!" which Nintendo can't do nearly as much.

On a COMPLETELY UNRELATED NOTE, has anyone heard of any ero-games or dating sims for the 3DS?
