  • So, a girl at work almost never or very little look at my eyes or at me when talking with me. Why is that?
I mean, I was never mean to her and I have always tried to be as friendly and attentive as possible.
  • Some people just don't like making eye contact.
  • I can attest to this, as I'm one of those people who hates making eye contact with anybody who isn't a very close friend.
  • I don't make eye contact more or less at all, as one of my many bad social habits. It's actually a common symptom of ADHD - one tends to get distracted by the shinies while talking to people.

As someone who suffers from this, I can tell you that is exactly true. Sometimes people have misconstrued it as rudeness and I usually have to tell them about what it really is.

I do the exact opposite, for the exact same reason. I make eye contact with everyone at once. It's an even worse social habit.

I had thought that acts of circus contortionism with one's eyeballs were impossible, but maybe I was wrong. On the bright side, Jeremy Bentham has a fabulous job offer for you.

She can clearly make eye contact or at least talk face to face to any other person in the lab.

  • The only thing wget does that curl does not is automatically brute force recursively spider through a site and download everything it can find. With curl I think you would have to write a script to do this. wget -r
Ah, forgot about that feature of wget, probably because I don't use it too frequently.

I think I've internalized making eye contact, smiling, and nodding by now. When I was younger I didn't make eye contact at all, but I learned around middle school that it wasn't helping me out socially. At first it felt forced, but you eventually get more comfortable with it.

  • I think she might really dislike me. Is weird we have worked together for a year but this just started to happen relatively recently.

    1. Go to http://tvtropes.org.
    2. There is no 2, and even if there was, you wouldn't get around to it anyways.

It's so true with the wiki walk.

Yeah, figured as much. Know a good place to sell them? At least a better place than Craigslist?

    Uh, Amazon? eBay?

  • Okay, those work as well. I just never thought about the idea of selling used RAM through them.
  • I have been looking for a cheap but study Ultrabook to replace my old laptop. I think I have found it but would like someone here to verify that this would be a good idea.

    Acer Aspire m5

The word Ultrabook has been destroyed. Ultrabook used to mean a very small laptop that was very powerful. Lenovo X series is an Ultrabook. That Acer is just a normal cheapo laptop.
  • Yeap.

My Lenovo X230 is more powerful than most peoples' desktops.

That Aspire is both HUGE (physically) and far less powerful. Much worse battery life too. If that's an "Ultrabook," then so is my genitalia.
  • While I more or less agree, "far less powerful" sounds like a significant exaggeration to me

In my mind Ultrabook = con laptop. If I can do a presentation, check email, and do some internet things on it, then I am fine. All of my heavy duty things are on my desktop. The Battery life of 8 hours is one of the major selling points for me, and sadly can not find anything else in the $500 range that isn't shit.

The shittacular 5400rpm spinning disk is the biggest performance bottleneck. The processor is also slower and it has half as much RAM, but that disk is the killer.

The X230 also costs about $400 more. Remember, he said cheap.

Pretty much the same here. That's why my laptop is a cheap-ass Acer Aspire 4530 that I paid about $450 myself for a couple years back.
