Too many variables to calculate. If you want to ask a specific question, just do it. Attempting to figure out the dance of death with interviews and applications is somewhat counter-productive, in my experience.
I always fall back on the obvious notion that anyone that wouldn't want to interview me and my awesomeness made the right decision because I only want to work with people that would want to work with me. And so on.
Sometimes you just have to start thinking that way. Beyond the other road is death.
I once managed to get a job by submitting my resume, leaving it for a few days, Then rocking up on the day after the applications closed and asking the boss point blank "So, when do I start?" - He floundered and went "Ah, um, I don't really know, Monday I guess?" and I just said "Great, thank you very much, I'll see you on Monday" shook his hand, and walked off. Showed up on Monday on time and prepared, and went on from there, Job Acquired.
1 week or 2 to follow up is a rule of thumb. Don't be annoying about it or be pushy, just "request an update on the application status". You'll have to learn to deal with the lack of communication that often accompanies job searches.
So my twitter timeline has stopped showing all the tweets from the people I follow. I can see my own personal timeline and the tweets at me. So odd. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Ping them after a week.
What's amazed me lately is the number of companies that don't respond at all. Clearly if they're staying silent after a week, they're not interested, but at least they could say it. It reflects poorly on the company, in my opinion.

Yes. I find that when I kill all feelings of possession in a relationship the other party can come and go from my life without much disturbance. I miss them sometimes, but that is a separate feeling from attachment.
hmm good to know. I think I'll have to duct tape a stake to a super soaker that I peed into and make a Anti-Vampire assault rifle. Plus, I think pee works on people too.
So everybody knows that the South of [the United States of] America is more racist on average. Why?
It's been a long time since the Civil War, yes? But as Rym likes to say, there are people who saw the moon landing who had parents that saw the Civil War. We have to wait longer for more generations to die off.

Why were the Civil War southern people more racist than Civil War Northern people?

They aren't, they're just differently racist. They're afraid of people of color getting power, whereas we're afraid of them getting close. Its why Chicago and Boston are so segregated. Spend a day in my shoes, and you'll here more racist shit than you could find anywhere in Atlanta. You can't walk five feet in southie or Dorchester without hearing the n-word.
So, i posed a question to a friend of mine and we were unable to divine an answer. I will now pose it to the bastion of analysis and reasoning that is the forum.
In a three way gangland turf-war. who comes out on top: The Jawas, The Oompa-Loompas or the Lollipop Guild?

The only ones who have actual experience with war, the only ones who've battled (and won) against an army, is the Jawas. I vote for them.
Additional factor. Old people move south to warmer weather in their old age. Even amongst us Yankees, old people are more racist than younger people. My grandparents had segregation for the first few decades of their lives. Even my parents generation was born in the 50s and were teenagers when MLK was getting his groove on. People like us are still relatively new. More old people live in the South, and bring their racism with them.
In the 2050s and 2060s we will start seeing a world where none of the people who lived in that racist society are still living. The number of racist people will greatly diminish. Sadly, the effects of the racist attitudes of previous generations will probably carry on.

We don't know that. Remember, those oompa loompas are refugees. We don't know much about Loompaland (though I always imagined it to be Nazi-occupied Poland). They could be vets from some Loompa Homefront Army.

Pure speculation. You cannot take into account what you do not know.
