  • "Life's a Happy Song" has been stuck in my head for a few days now, not that I'm complaining.

    "Life's a fillet of fish!"
    "...y-yes it is!"

Love this film, well worth going to see in a theater.

I was just mocked for seeing the Muppets....worst relative ever.

That person must be an empty shell of a human being.

I want someone to do something interesting with the concept of "civilian muppets." Are muppets a protected minority? Is there discrimination against muppets? Is there a muppet mafia? It just raises so many questions.

  • Lisa and I just saw The Muppets and were very happy with the way it was done. Of the two of us, I had higher hopes because I'm a lifelong Muppets fan, while she had no emotional investment. That we both enjoyed the film said volumes about how well it was written.
  • JTVH and I have just returned from The Muppets. I would call it the funniest most unpleasant movie I've seen in a long time. It had, like, 5 plots. Look at the original Muppet Movie, it's just a Coyote-Road Runner chase between Kermit and Doc Hopper. The Muppets had a romance, and an oil tychoon, and another romance, and whatever was going on with Walter; it just bit off more than the Muppets can chew. I won't pretend it wasn't laugh out loud funny (there needs to exist more street Fozzie) but I spent too much of that movie considering leaving to recommend it.

I saw this with my family on thanksgiving; It's not making my top 100, but it's a good movie. The muppets were never the epitome of humor for me, but wide-appeal feel-good funnies. That's what this movie was. It had some good cameos, some good humor, some great callbacks (The Rainbow Connection was fantastic), and I hope it's the start of a new deal for the Muppets. Jack Black's part was so good I was uncertain if they
had actually kidnapped him to play it.

Also: A boy and his frog still makes me cry, and caused me to cry during the movie, too.

    The new movie was amazing.

    Me too.

Mike Doughty's "Frog and Banjo" song sums it up pretty well. (This was the only video I could find for the song.)

  • Watched it last Friday. This movie was wonderful as many others have already said. Jeremy and I have been singing various songs from it all weekend.

I also really enjoyed that Toy Story short before the movie. I wasn't expecting that at all.

That song does pull so hard on the heart strings, every single time I hear it.

DJ Bluejay is best toy. I want one so badly.

  • Tiny buzz was an asshole.
  • I want the belt buckle.

I was really just glad that there was a cartoon before it. That it happened to be Toy Story and good was just gravy.

Oh belt buckle, you crack me up.

  • First I was facepalm, but then I lol'd.
  • Why can't the Liberals just leave little children alone!?

They require their blood, dude. They require precious child blood for arcane rituals and sustenance. Kvlt ov Obama 2012.

  • Piggy went through Kermit's google search history... She wasn't happy.
  • So in an interesting turn of events, the home video release of the Muppets (coming out on March 20th, which is now a date that I cannot wait for) is going to come with a digital copy of the soundtrack in at least the DVD and 3-disc combo pack. Never seen this done before, but I'm all for it. More content for your dollar.

Also, I would love it if they had the full Muppet Telethon as a special feature, but it seems like it would be too much work for a special feature.

I would rather they have the full Muppet Telethon as a Telethon aired for reals on ABC.

I really just want Disney to take the financial success of the movie as a signal that the populace is ready for a new Muppet Show.

  • Question. I have only seen some episodes of the Muppet Show in my childhood and few sketches on later age, thanks to the Internet. I haven't seen any of the movies tough. So should I watch some of the old Muppet movies before seeing this new one to get more out of it? And if I should see some of the older Muppets what are good/best ones?
  • Rolf is the best Muppet.
    He's Muppet Jesus.

Although not required but if you see the Muppet Movie before the Muppets you will get a few in-jokes that the movie pulls in the first act. As for best movie, I am still leaning towards Great Muppet Caper (2nd one) but this one is climbing the charts quite nicely.

Watch The Muppet Movie, and Muppet Christmas Carol in December. Muppet Treasure Island is an acceptable guilty pleasure because Tim Curry is present. DISREGARD ALL OTHER MUPPET MOVIES!
