We may want to start pre-emptive letter-writing campaign to get them to localize this game, because I want it SO MUCH.
Yeah! I mean it worked so well with Mother 3 right!
It worked with Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii, and Nintendo is wisely doing a small release of that game, selling only direct and through Gamestop. They have stated that they will be monitoring the sales of this niche localization to see if future titles should get such treatment.
The major downside here is that Xenoblade Chronicles has had a European release for months now, with full English audio and all. A large number of fans have likely already imported or pirated the game, so hopefully it still sells within Nintendo's expectations.

Wii is region locked so probably not that many imports. If importing games was an option on Wii I would be playing Trauma Team right now, or to be more exact I would have played it already months ago.
Evidence that Monster Hunter is a force to be reckoned with in Japan: Even a week after the remake of Monster Hunter Tri launched for 3DS, Nintendo's handheld outsold the PS Vita's debut.
Nintendo is handheld king in Japan, but Sony handhelds enjoy success there too (at least much more than they do elsewhere). Interestingly enough, when I spent my week in Japan I saw WAY more PSPs than I ever did DSes. Rym/Emily, curious to know if you had any observations from your trip?
You point out Monster Hunter as the reason for the 3DS boom in Japan and you wonder why the PSP, which has not one, not two, but three Monster Hunter games on it, outshows the DS in Japan?
I wonder why the PSP outshows the DS in my first-hand observations because the sales figures for the consoles show the DS miles ahead. It's a question worth asking. It makes you ask "where are all of these things?" As Omnutia points out, they are probably in the bottom of backpacks. I just didn't realize Nintendo had the "for kids" stigma in Japan like it does in the US.
More news about Mechwarrior Online. I want to be excited about this but... Honestly I'm not sure if I'm just gonna be disappointed. Free to Play can end up badly, and Living Legends may have spoiled me completely. Honestly it's just about perfect, it just needs to be more developed.
Not to knock gaming altogether, but gaming can never truly be creative because all games are designed by people, and you options within any game are always limited by those who designed it. You can't truly discover anything in a game or do anything novel in a game, because all of the parameters are designed.
I say that as someone whose spent a lot of time gaming in my day (from Pong to WoW) (though I don't any more).
Gaming can be fun, and "social games" are certainly the best in this sense, but even games like Age of Empires or Everquest, or even Chess or Bridge for that matter, all systems with defined parameters that necessarily restrict individual's options as defined by the game's inventors.
Someone get this man some Minecraft. Procedural content, emergent play, modding... buckets on heads!

Aaand books are written by people, paintings are painted by people, music is composed by people, TV shows and movies are written, directed, filmed, and acted in by people, the list goes on!

I think he's saying that playing the game can't be a truely creative act since you are limited by the features of the game, just like you can't be truely creative in the real world since you are contrained by the laws of physics (that guy is an idiot).

Also in writing you are constrained by words and peoples definitions of them.

This reminds me of a discussion I had with a friend a while back that if true virtual reality does become a thing if it would give artists of any form of media the most freedom to create. We were drinking though so I cannot remember the conclusion we reached.

I'm 100% sure that the next big media revolution will be Strange Days style recorded / simulated experience.
If you shudder at the though of your kids making / consuming porn now, just fucking imagine...

Also, new major Nintendo franchise games for the DS are still coming out. Kirby Mass Attack came out two months ago. This game's got a chance.

Edit: In other news holy shit the first level of Asura's Wrath looks amazing.
