Well, I'll be hanging around melbourne with my metaphorical dick in my hand on Thursday between 1:30 PM and 5:30ish, but other than that, I dunno.
Also, is anyone sorting out those carts, or shall I investigate further? Casa put himself in the position by suggesting, but I can take over if nobody steps forward. If that's the case, I'll probably place it the day after PAX, since I'm not there for much longer afterward.
So the PAX AUS maps are out there (check the PA forums) and the venue looks really cool. I'm quite jealous of those who are going! It looks like it will have either the feel of a college campus or a PAX theme park.
Thing that I wasn't expecting: laser tag arena build into the back of the expo hall building. It's being run by this company

Yes, someone please organize the go carts. For serious.

Yeah, it's a showgrounds. I know about the laser tag, but I know I'll have to wait in line for a century to play. Not worth it.
Alright, I'll get the lay of the land. How many people are up for it, Other than Scott, Rym, and myself? I'm anticipating under ten, but I'd still like to know so I can find out about track availability.
Nice work Churba. Of my group we are all planning on climbing any evening of PAX that people are available, but only a few are available for kart related fun the afternoon prior to PAX starting, so if people are keen for a Thursday afternoon session I can promise 3 to 5 people extra. I will make some calls tomorrow and report details also. By our efforts combined this should be a success!
Just phoned and have a few details: If we have some confirmed numbers for 10 plus people I could book us a space. It will be $65 per half hour in their "best karts" with an initial $10 membership fee on top for insurance etc.
Thursday 18th from 2-7pm is currently free for groups (they have a race booked out from 7-9pm if anyone is interested in a show...) but if you rock up any-time throughout the day and there is space on the track, you can just jump in. If anyone other than mentioned above is keen then give a shoutout in the next 48 hours and we can get these bookings sorted. If Thursday doesn't work for people please speak up and so we can alternate make arrangements.
I just threw together a super crude timetable in Google docs to highlight attendee availability. Please feel free to add / improve / hijack this if you have the time and inclination - the more input the better.
I land in Melbourne on Thursday the 18th at around 8:20am. While Thursday is technically possible, depending on how long it takes to get to the track, it's unlikely. I also don't know if I should go racing immediately after being in a plane for 24 hours. Can we schedule for Monday instead?
I dreamed of PAX Aus last night. I was an enforcer. I was honored to have the gold shirt. A guy I know attacked me. I fought back and won. Australian authorities could give no fucks.
Early Monday morning may be doable depending on opening hours, although I fly out at 11am so for myself a Thursday session is still king. My preference aside, once we have a list of available times then we can book the best slot (refer previous Google Doc) for the most people.
I hit tarmac on Thursday 18th, Tullamarine at 1:10 PM, and I'm wheels up for fucking off at 6:30 PM on the 23rd.
I'll be around on Thursday, but I'll have all my shit with me, as I only catch up with the mate I'm staying with after he gets off work at about 5:30 PM. I'm obviously booked out for PAX times during the day, and maybe the evening depending on what's happening, but I'm free for Monday and most of Tuesday, and up for just about whatever, as long as I can get to it.
Here comes a handball your way Churba! Given that Monday morning the karts open at 10am, and I fly out at 11 its gonna be an overreach trying to cram in some kart action before my flights. The guys at the track indicate that there are very few bookings around the PAX weekend so you should have no trouble sorting out a Monday / Tuesday session if that works best
Everyone, we are trying to make promotional bingo cards for PAX AUS. The idea is we hand out the bingo cards and people have fun with them, but they say GeekNights/frontrowcrew on them. Perhaps we give a price to the first who gets BINGO. Anyway, here is the Google Doc. Post new ideas of things you see at PAX in this thread.
hmmm, here are a few I can think of off the top of my head:
FIRE FALL!!!!! Settlers of Catan portable edition being played in line "Can anyone trade their magic promo cards with me?" Sing along to Bohemian Rhapsody An argument about which console is better Fallout Boy puppet Dub Step and appropriate dancing Some one with 3 single day passes Some one with a PAX East Scarf Taxi Driver asking you what is going on at the convention center No food at a food booth/restaurant Someone sanitizing their hands after contact with someone else Piece of swag stacked ridiculously high on top of someone's head
You may want to reword Fallout Boy puppet to avoid confusion with the band.
My contributions: - 3DS Streetpass w/ a Penny Arcade staff member - Pocket ponies - Plants vs Zombies zombie - PAX tattoo - PAX tournament medal - Mike or Jerry lookalike
Aww shit.. Churbs, we're hitting the town in style on Monday and Tuesday. ;^)
I'm 100% all about that, let's rock.

With nobody else indicating interest, we should be able to rock up any old time, but I'll have them on the blower today to make sure.
Oh if anyone here happens to bump into or see a booth for a show called New Game Plus while at PAX tell them Coldguy said hi.
If I get the chance, consider it done.
hmmm, here are a few I can think of off the top of my head:
Also - two people trading for Pinny Arcade, an enforcer moving at a dead run.
Finally, by some mad twist of circumstance, I was weighed, measured, and found acceptable for managing Wombat Theatre, so I accepted and now I am. Fair enough then, I can do that.
