Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't mlp start getting popular after a controversial article was written? and then internet peeps started checking it out after seeing the flames? All this stuff on tumblr sucks (doesn't surprise me though), but i wonder if it will get more eyes on the show.....
I'll continue to stay away from fan communities and just lurk in the shadows.
There's a part of me that wanted to do a special episode of SUU when that girl attempted suicide. But I decided not to because that's not what my show is about. My show is about analyzing Steven U, it's story, and it's meaning. But, honestly, every time I hear about this, it gets me mad. And I remember that I have an audience and that people in the community really respect my opinion.
As a person with even the small amount of reach that I have, don't I have even SOME responsibility to say, "This is dumb. Stop it"?
It's your show, but make no mistake that if you put a toe into the water, the drama monster there will pop out and grab you. Like that scene in LotR outside Moria.
I think the issue is that a lot of these are young and rather marginalized individuals, and if the people who otherwise agree with their politics don't teach them how what they're doing is destructive, it allows an extremely negative community to form around...Well...Everything.
So these fans are so upset about SU fan art. Fan art that is deemed not in the true spirit or crosses the line into porn territory. That they have mounted a campaign to harass, humiliate and threatened with violence. All the fans who have created these 'heinous' works. All in the name of Steven Universe. A cartoon...
Do we now pay attention to any Asshole with a Tumblr?
If it just were someone writing stupid bullshit on their own personal tumblr and keeping it there, I wouldn't care, but when people attack another human being, that's unacceptable and horrible.

Especially with Tumblr's reputation of being a bastion for tolerance and acceptance towards just about every movement out there. The cosplay community is pretty fragment because you'll see several posts about cosplaying whoever you want to no matter what you look like, but the SU fandom had all the outrage over a Skinny Rose and/or Skinny Amethyst.
I'm gonna start writing my script. This isn't a huge thing yet, but if I can help nip it in the bud, I will. And if I lose viewers because of it, they aren't viewers I want anyways.
I always figured Peridot being more of white mice type of pet owner. Running the mice through elaborate mice mazes trying to figure why earth creatures are so weird.
