I really want this show to utilize the fact that when Steven kisses a boo-boo to make it better, it actually works.
Tonight's episode was something else, and the constant sound of fan theories getting shot into canon could back the 1812 Overture.
My friends went into an hour long discussion of everything this new Peridot episode could mean. This included "There's a worker class of gems & fighter class of gems because Peridot used technology rather than summoning a weapon" and "Jasper is some kind of forced fusion because she's got two-toned skinned." Another one was "Notice how Peridot said harvest when she saw the bubbled creatures, so maybe the original gem world would sacrifice others for power!"
You know you've hit fandom once people get crazy speculative over fan theories.
"Jasper is some kind of forced fusion because she's got two-toned skinned."
That one at least got officially shot down a while back.
I think saying there's a fighter class of gems might be reading in a bit much, but Peridot's job definitely isn't being a soldier, so it's probably not that surprising that she doesn't know how to summon a weapon. I saw a theory a few months back suggesting that she was also unused to the limb-enhancers, as she seemed surprised when some of their abilities actually worked.
The harvest thing definitely suggests that the homeworld might use rebel, corrupted or otherwise broken gems for things like power - like the way Lapis was powering the mirror - or, hell, it could be a scary story the homeworld tells about what rebels do to captured gems! Anyways, leaks have it that an upcoming episode will be titled "Gem Harvest," so whatever she meant we'll learn eventually.
Jasper lacks a second (visible) gem, and we always see the gems during the light show when they fuse. While it's shitty quality, if you pause at exactly 72 seconds into this video () you can see that there are only two gems visible in the light-form: Jasper's nose gem and Lapis' back gem. I think more that you tend to get "Extras" when the gems are out of sync or forced: notice how Malachite has extra limbs, extra eyes, and a generally more mosterous appearance. Similarly, Alexandrite, who while not a forced fusion had a lot of internal dischord, had extra mouths, extra faces, extra eyes, extra limbs... the list goes on.
Star vs. Forces of Evil - Haven't watched any more beyond the first two episodes, don't feel a driving urge to do watch more though.
Gravity Falls - Actually pretty funny, watched the first episode and I totally dig the characters, particularly Mabel and Zeus. May watch more in the future.
I hit the end of the first season of Gravity Falls last night. It didn't really grab me till the last couple episodes of the season. The humor's good, but it felt a lot less novel than Steven Universe - more similar plots to other cartoons, less character depth, and not much continuity of character development. Maybe it's just bias speaking, since I'm well into the second season of SU.

Edit: Oh god I wasn't ready
