I've always liked Sadie. It bothers me how she lets Lars takes advantage of her though. Not judging either. It must be ruff to be in love with a jerk like Lars.
Naw. I think they'll keep that going to have Lars develop even more as a character. I wouldn't mind seeing an insecure verbal bully learn the errors of his ways.
I liked that the ending wasn't the cliche of "nervous person doesn't want to do thing but friends convince them to do the thing and wasn't it great?" No, sometimes you just don't have to do that shit and that's ok.
[spoiler]I wish they hadn't shown Steven singing the song and, instead, kept the focus on Sadie and Barb. They could have shown Steven running onto stage in costume and let us hear him singing in the background, but get a nice heart to heart talk between Sadie and her mom.[/spoilers]
My housemate is getting really into Steven Universe, we've been watching it slowly over the last month or so (this is my fourth watch of the show, I keep defaulting to watching it instead of new things). We're in the last third of the first season, and I can't wait to get to the finale and then season 2 as she really likes the more serious episodes.
She's never watched a magical girl anime before, but I'm thinking once we're caught up of transitioning her to either Utena or Maddoka. Probably Utena because the rose and swords motif in the show seems to really jive with her. She's been pointing out all of the little visual hints around the temple as well, so I think it'll go pretty well.
Madoka's improved if you can watch one or two "proper" magical girl shows before watching it - since Sailor Moon's 200 episodes, Cardcaptor Sakura's a good bet.
She won't touch Sailor Moon or Cardcaptor Sakura with a 10 foot pole because the sub cartoons on when we were kids. My best bet is something she has no prior associations with, then trying to get her into one of those. Because goddamn now I want to rewatch Cardcaptor Sakura.
What about Nanoha? It doesn't have as many eps as Sailor Moon, was never popular here in US, and isn't there a movie now that covers the entire first series?

True. I think the point was to have the message of the song, despite the fact it was Steven singing it, to be Sadie's background music. I wasn't as enthused about this episode as I've been about others for some reason. I dug the little details though, like the fact that Lars and Sadie still aren't hanging out, and that Sadie still had the scar on her face (badass).

Tonight's episode was something else, and the constant sound of fan theories getting shot into canon could back the 1812 Overture.
Also she is so fucking cute, it's incredible.
EVERYBODY!
