So much I don't understand about this one. I just don't understand the (as yet rumors) that after being shot he was left alive but untreated. I don't understand how any young black man would be carrying a gun within 100 miles of Ferguson, let alone 2 miles. I don't understand how, even if a young black man did have a gun, he wouldn't immediately comply with all orders from a police officer.
What I understand completely is why the police officer shot the young black man. I mean, why not, right? It's the logical thing to do, at this point.

Considering gangs are now allegedly (heavy emphasis there) ordering members to kill any white police officer they find, I think it is falling into race war territory now.

Wow, who is claiming that??
I am also highly dubious of this claim.
It reeks of Headlight Game white middle class suburban hysteria. Gangs aren't the force they used to be, and violent gang crime tends to be highly compartmentalized both demographically and geographically.
There should be serious repercussions for officers who turn off or disable their dash/body cams. Just like tampering with smoke detectors in airplanes.

Conservative bloggers. With that said, however, I still worry about an "us vs them," mentality in black neighborhoods. Might not be a "kill whitey" attitude but more likely a "scare whitey" thing, which doesn't end well.

How about an individual isn't recognised as a police officer unless they have a badge and a camera. If they kill someone without their camera they are treated as a civilian in the same situation.

Scare gets ratings. Keeping the general population in fear is the same thing that dictators do, to control their citizens. The US may be heading towards the fictional dystopian, police state cities described by many science fiction writers.
I don't have a solution because every time I find out more about the US, I find more difficult problems and practices which I was unaware of.
a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.
Don't think we hit that definition for a couple reasons. Dictator with complete power (Obama isn't king to my knowledge), opposition isn't forcibly suppressed (as well as criticism) and government hasn't taken over most industry to the point of dictating what hey make. We do have Aggressive nationalism but in reality while we have race issues we are almost miles ahead of other places like most places in Europe on the topic of Racism.
You could make an argument for a Aristocracy but America is still really far away from a Fascist state.

The clusterfuck that is American power structure really defies categorization as one word. You have military interests with too much control, but it's not quite a junta nor a traditional empire. You have economic interests with too much influence, but it's not quite plutocracy. You have racist-ass interests with way too much power, but it's not quite apartheid. You have authoritarianism and religious interests with too much pull, but it's not quite fascism or theocracy yet.
America desperately wants to have one of the traditionally evil forms of government, but it just can't make up it's mind which one and so flirts with all of them.
Okay, open_sketchbook put it way better than I did.
It really seems as though the USA has all the problems associated with all the worst forms of government and corruption, with the added problem of thinking that as long is it can still call itself a democracy with a straight face, that it's doing just fine and dandy.

I think "oligarchy" is the word you're looking for, but in practice it's not that different from an aristocracy.
I always felt that it was pretty close to that for the last tenish or so years.
What I don't get is how some people, and the government, seem unwilling to address the problems that they have. As if they don't want to admit there is an issue with America's democracy.

Anyone in the government wants to stay in so of course they won't address it, and for the most part the American public thinks anyone but their "representative" is the problem (see the 2014 midterms), if they even know who their representatives are.
