Doing their best not to get upstaged by Metalocalypse, Metallica actually played a concert in Antarctica earlier in December. For unknown reasons they did not play Trapped Under Ice, which is a crime in and of itself.
This is Recluse, a side project of Phil McSorley of Cobalt "fame." This is some of the most abrasive, unpleasant, and hate-filled music I've ever heard. McSorley's reason for the existence of the project:
Saw this guys live with Protest the Hero, Veil of Maya, The Contortionist, Vildhjarta, Structures and others. Nice band around. The whole gig was amazing and somehow not exhausting, considering it was from 3pm to 11pm.

Mist is the best track they've ever made.
Aaaand that's probably enough PtH for one thread.

"Erik Wunder is very talented, and we work well together, but Cobalt will never capture the hate I feel for people musically like Recluse."
It delivers.
Post-metal and post-rock has been my jam as of lately.

They don't usually get classified as metal, but I really like Shinedown. I saw them in concert last year, and they blew me away.
One thing in particular struck me. You know how singers often sound different in the studio vs. live? Dude still sounds exactly like this!

Still not the weirdest thing out of Japan.
