I live in a city which does not have a team, and in Canada no less. Also, I find sport culture obnoxious even disconnected from what we traditionally think of as sports; I generally disliked going to Sens games because of the annoying bullshit even when I was really into the game, and I couldn't stand the LoL guys at PAX either.
Thing I randomly found out - for a while, the Captain of the Jets was an Australian guy. There's been a number of Gridiron teams that have had Australian players, to my surprise.
It's not all that notable that a person circulates a video of them doing freaky things in controlled settings and then getting signed by an NFL franchise. If nothing else, it'll make me care about the 6 snaps a game I'll see him when we play Detroit twice a year.
Actually, despite feeling bad for him, I was kind of glad Crosby sucked it up so bad last year. Unbelievably, he didn't cost us a game, and we also went for it a handful of times that would normally be field goal attempts. I really like teams getting risky.
The entire NFC is out of control. Anyone-can-win parity is one thing, but that conference has several more serious contender teams than it has playoff spots.
Are the Giants going to be better or worse next year?
They're looking at Manit Te'o, so...
That guy and his made up dead girlfriend cracks me up in retrospect. At the time I was a bit livid with how obsessed the news was with him. Not the sports news mind you, the regular news.
Draft day! NYC Front Row Crew people, you going to attempt to swing by Radio City or are you avoiding it at all costs?
Of the two teams I'm a fan of, I'm FAR more excited about the Dolphins draft this year than the Packers in spite of the fact that my loyalties lie with the Pack first.
I've never been interested in attending the NFL draft, even though I'm a very short ride to NYC. Is there more to it than sitting in a crowded room and watching people walk up to the microphone every 20 min? I've never been huge on the draft b/c I despise college football, and never know any of the players beforehand. I do care about the results, but just like to read about them online.
I may, however, check out the MLB Fan Fest at the Javitz this year. I skipped it a few years back when the All Star Game was at Yankee Stadium, but some friends that went had a good time. It doesn't seem all that interesting: bunch of old timers and some hokey "swing a bat, catch a ball" attractions, but I'm always up for a bit of hooplah and spectacle if I've got nothing else happening that weekend. Plus since the Mets are hosting the All Star Game, there will apparently be some sort of Mets museum display.
I work near Radio City, but have no plans to go over there. Being excited for the draft? Seriously? The only NFL products I give a shit about are regular season games, playoff games, and Superb Owls. Everything else is bullshit.

The draft is exciting for a number of reasons. The reasons apply to all sports. My tl;dr version of it all is that every team gets better, it's fun to make fun of stupid mistakes made (I'm looking at you, Cowboys), and it's fun RP'ing an NFL Scout/GM for a while.
As someone who once played Football, knows a few former NFL players (albeit minor players, no stars), and generally has passion for the game? It's the most exciting non season day of the year. Christmas in April, as it were.

Insert joke about releasing the Tebow (Kraken)!
Too flashy for my tastes, needs less diamonds and more platinum.

I personally like the older ones myself.
