You must be the only person who has said yeah to Spielberg remaking a classic. He is going to ruin it, that is the only foreseeable outcome.
Yawn... yet more preemptive moaning about remakes. Did nobody else think The Departed was a good film? The Magnificent Seven? The latest Star Trek? Oceans 11? Vanilla Sky? Thomas Crown Affair? Casino Royale? Remakes can be good.
And then... yawn... is it a remake if it is just another interpretation of the same source material as another film?

Are you saying you don't trust Speilberg both as a competent director and as a man who has been successful many times in the past? Although, the counterargument to this is War of the Worlds but that is absolutely outweighed by all the fantastic movies he has made previously and since then, and I don't think he will ruin it at all. Also, listen to Luke Burrage because he is quite right as many remakes these days are excellent. I know that some people may throw my previous ranting about the Seven Samurai remake back in my face, but I've gotten over that and I'm impressed from what I've seen so far and I think it's safe to say it will either be good or damn good both in terms of remakes and movies in general. The point is, give it some faith and don't be upset at all, I mean come on you can't go wrong with Spielberg.

Abre los ojos was 10000000 better than vanilla sky

The Departed was good, but it wasn't directed by Spielberg, a person who has only directed one brilliant film since 1993 (That film been Munich), the rest either been average i.e. Amistad or down right awful i.e. War of the Worlds and Catch Me if You Can. If this was the 80s and early 90s again, I might have faith, but it isn't so I don't.

Ahem...what about Saving Private Ryan or Schindler's List? Those were phenomenal films.

Most of the movies he's directed since 1993 (save Munich and Saving Private Ryan) haven't exactly been of a serious tone. His directing chops aren't going to shine through in romantic comedies like The Terminal or summer action films like Minority Report of War of the Worlds. I'm hoping that Oldboy, being a film of brutal revenge, will be a return to form for Spielberg.

Schindler's List was came out in 1993 and Saving Private Ryan is a film whose reputation is based on the first 20mins, and, although there is no doubting that them 20mins are the best in any war film ever, the other 2 hours are not.
Right across my house there is an open meadow which is more or less only used to access the agricultural field right next to it. I think it's owned by the same farmer. Ocassionally in the mornings, small deer are there to pasture. Today I was walking home from getting a new haircut, there was a deer, right there at half past noon. I took a picture, unfortunately it's only from my iPhone camera and I couldn't get any closer either. I tried to after I took some pictures but the deer vanished right into the field right next to it.
Also, here's a shot of my home, pretty much when turning around from the above picture. I took it right after:

Afterwards says it's absolutely torture.
