The Islanders say farewell to the Nassau Mausoleum and are moving to Brooklyn, which I guess is still on Long Island.
Makes this whole Hamilton situation a bit weird for Toronto, considering there will now be two NHL teams within 3 miles of each other.
It's geographically on Long Island, but not politically.
Really, Islanders haven't been relevant in years. If you're going to stink at least stink loudly like the Jets so I can hate on you properly. They're just so pathetic that all the hate has been transferred to the Devils and Flyers.
The Isles suck, but I am kind of wary of them, similar to how I'm wary of the Oilers. Through their stinking they have amassed a bunch of young talent (though the Isles' talent is of course far inferior to what the Oilers now have). Being now within the New York city limits the Islanders could be more attractive to free agents though, at the very least as opposed to being in ten miles north of where civilization ends.
Anyway, moving to Brooklyn is pretty much the only good thing the Islanders have done in the last 20 years other than drafting John Tavares first overall. Oh god, I shudder each and every time I read the saga of Milbury trades.

This is supposedly real.
Amazing how far they've fallen since the glory days of Pat LaFontaine and co.

Apparently I'm not the only one who is excited. Flyers drew 15,000 people yesterday for PRACTICE.
