    WHAT A LEGACY THEY'RE BUILDING.......

    Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is an executive at the company that built the Obamacare website.
    First Lady Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is a top executive at the company that earned the no-bid contract to build the failed Obamacare website.

    Toni Townes-Whitley, Princeton class of ’85, is senior vice president at CGI Federal, which earned the no-bid contract to build the $678 million Obamacare enrollment website at Healthcare.gov. CGI Federal is the U.S. arm of a Canadian company.
    Townes-Whitley and her Princeton classmate Michelle Obama are both members of the Association of Black Princeton Alumni.

    Toni Townes,’85, is a onetime policy analyst with the General Accounting Office and previously served in the Peace Corps in Gabon, West Africa. Her decision to return to work, as an African-American woman, after six years of raising kids was applauded by a Princeton alumni publication in 1998.
    George Schindler, the president for U.S. and Canada of the Canadian-based CGI Group, CGI Federal’s parent company, became an Obama 2012 campaign donor after his company gained the Obamacare website contract.

    On the government end, construction of the disastrous Healthcare.gov website was overseen by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), a division of longtime failed website-builder Kathleen Sebelius’ Department of Health and Human Services.

    CGI Federal did not immediately return a request for comment.

    Soooooo...........
    Lets see if we can connect the dots here ...
    1.) No American companies considered;
    2.) A Canadian company hired;
    3.) No Bid contract for $93 million;
    4.) Top executive at website-building firm went to school with Michelle Obama;
    5.) Previous experience building gun registry for Canadian government;
    6.) Fired by Canadian Government for overruns that cost Canada $100 million;
    4.) Overruns for Obamacare enrollment website now costing U.S. $678 million,and still going up.

    Does this bother anybody else besides me? And this is just one of their corrupt enterprises. The Obamas are worse than "Bernie" Madoff and far more dangerous to the country. These thieves and traitors should be in jail for the rest of their lives.
    Pass this on, if you agree.

  • Ok Scott your another yr. older... What do you have to say about this.??? > Last month, the Senate Budget Committee reports that in fiscal year 2012, between food stamps, housing support, child care, Medicaid and other benefits, the average U.S. Household below the poverty line received $168.00 a day in government support. What's the problem with that much support? Well, the median household income in America is just over $50,000, which averages out to $137.13 a day.To put it another way, being on welfare now pays the equivalent of $30.00 an hour for a 40-hour week, while the average job pays $20.00 an hour.

  • "If you want to make a political point that is convincing it has to be backed up by facts and not one fact surrounded by a bunch of false statements, why put those false statements in there at all? What are they trying to do? Why not just present the argument? If the argument is so strong it doesn't need to be wrapped in lies and distortions. Why fake numbers or claims? Why not just present an argument that is convincing? That's what you should be asking yourself. Why are all these E-mails going out with only a shred of truth in them? Why not pass around E-mails that actually are 100% factual and in context?"

    Pretty much told my dad if he wants any more responses out of me he has to answer this statement.
  • lol, my dad keeps arguing about Obama but not answering my above paragraph so I keep just cutting and pasting it in as a response.

    He was for 9 months before he got a medical discharge :-p

    Though I gotta say he's gotten to the point recently of saying it ALL the freaking time. As he's gotten more conservative and argumentative he wields that part of him as a hammer against all argument.

  • Maybe I can retire this thread? I got my dad to finally say he would stop sending me political E-mails!! Place your bets on how long this will last!
  • Every forward he ever sent you has been 100% correct.
  • Ended up getting into an argument with a friend on Facebook where it came out that he did not believe people had a basic right to food.
  • Some people believe there is no such thing as a right to begin with. Philosophically, it's a defensible position.

    Oh, no, he believes in rights. He just thinks that saying there's a right to food "devaules" farmers labor.

    He's a bit of an odd capital-L Libertarian.
  • Just in case you wondered if I was still getting E-mail from my dad :-p

    Obviously this was never said by her...

    She Did It Again!!! W O W!

    Wouldn’t it be great to have an Executive Order signed by our President that said this?

    Australia says NO -- This will be the second Time Julia Gillard has done this!

    She sure isn't backing down on her hard line stance and one has to appreciate her belief in the rights of her native countrymen.

    A breath of fresh air to see someone lead with guts and determination.
    Australian Prime Minister does it again!!

    The whole world needs a leader like this!

    Inline image 1

    Prime Minister Julia Gillard - Australia

    Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

    Separately, Gillard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying she supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote:

    'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT... Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'

    'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.'

    'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!'

    'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

    'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

    'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

    'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country that accepted you.'

    NOTE: IF we circulate this amongst ourselves in Canada & USA, WE will find the courage to start speaking and voicing the same truths.

    If you agree please SEND THIS ON and ON, to as many people as you know...

    Absolutely correct, she never said any of that.

    There's a number of clues in the text alone - she mentions speaking Spanish, our numbers of Spanish-speaking immigrants is so small that most people could go their whole life without ever actually meeting someone from a Spanish-speaking country.

    We didn't have a surge of Patriotism, and certainly not as the US would understand it. We've always been a very patriotic nation, but we're also the same sorts to do the sorts of things that would make American Patriots very angry, like making fun of the country or criticizing the government. Patriotisim here is definitely about the land and it's people, not about the government or the flag.

    Saying "Most Australians belive in god" - while technically true - would get you eviscerated in the press, as well as ripped up by the public. Also, she would be unlikely to start making references of that type, considering she was(and presumably is) a staunch atheist.

    "Our Pledge" - We don't really have one. The people who have taken one are generally either Governor General or immigrants, as part of their citizenship ceremony. And it is as follows:
    From this time forward (Optional addition: Under God)
    I pledge my loyalty to Australia and its people,
    whose democratic beliefs I share,
    whose rights and liberties I respect, and
    whose laws I will uphold and obey.

    Our spy agencies never publically monitored Australian Mosques.

    Finally, thanks to snopes, we also know that it's actually written by a US Air Force veteran, in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

    The lefty crazy messages are usually anti GMO/vaccine stuff. Typically you only see the political crazy emails from the party in the minority.

    Nope, I'd categorize that away as anti-science along with climate change denial and so on, rather than straight up politics. I'm talking classic political smears, here.

    I will step back slightly, and say they're probably not as common as the right-wing email nonsense, and I missed the fact that there's a bias there - the majority of the people I know are anywhere from Center-left to hardcore lefties, you could probably count the right-wing sorts on one hand, at the most inclusive - so of course, I'm going to see more stuff like that from the left than the right.
  • True enough Churba.

    Generally speaking anti-science on the right in America is typically either:

    1) your science is in conflict withy religion and I choose religion.
    2) your science is in conflict with my finances and I choose finances.

    Anti-science on the left is typically:

    1) your science contains "chemicals" and chemicals are bad so I oppose your science.
    2) your science is against nature so I choose nature.

    There are exceptions and some cross over but that is the typical breakdown as I experience it in the US.
  • HMTKSteve said:

    1) your science contains "chemicals" and chemicals are bad so I oppose your science.

    Dangerous new possibility - 3) YOU contain chemicals, and chemicals are bad, so you clearly can't be trusted and must be wrong.

    It's foolproof. Everybody contains chemicals.

  • One of the funnier memes (aside from dihydrogen monoxide) was one that listed the actual chemicals that exist inside an organic strawberry (natural chemical compounds) and warned people about all of the dangerous stuff inside strawberries.

    Yeah, that's the good kind of patriotism, IMHO. Or as I like to state it, albeit it's somewhat simplified here, "Patriotism is cheering for your country in the Olympics. Nationalism is bombing the country that beat your country in the Olympics."
  • These E-mails drive me nuts

    > Here are the facts on the late Freddie Gray of Baltimore :
    >
    > Freddie Gray had a pre -existing spinal and neck injury and had severe nerve damage and scar tissue from an accident that AllstateInsurance was paying him for, in a structured settlement. This monthly payment and drug money were his means of support. Freddie had had several unsuccessful spinal fusion surgeries over the past 4 1/2 years. His most recent spinal/ cervical operation was a week and a half before he was arrested on April 12. He was on doctor's orders to remain home and in bed to speed recovery from that major operation. Instead, Freddie was out manufacturing and distributing drugs on the streets of Baltimore , and strenuously resisting arrest.
    >
    > Freddie had a long criminal history (rap sheet): many pages long for manufacturing and distributing drugs and controlled substances, including heroin, cocaine , crack cocaine and marijuana. He had been convicted of numerous other felonies including assault, firearms violations, breaking and entering, armed robbery, receiving stolen property, and the list goes on and on from his 18th birthday. InBaltimore County, juvenile records are forever sealed except by judicial order. ( www . mdjudiciarycaseresearch ) Freddie , known on the streets as "Pepper", was 25 years old, 5'8" and weighed 145 lbs . when last arrested. He had been incarcerated at least 12 times, the longest stretch being 2 years in prison in Maryland.
    >
    > Freddie had recently tried to convert his structured settlement from Allstate into a lump sum payment from Peachtree Funding, of Atlanta . Friends say he was confused by the paperwork and legal terminology.
    >
    > Following his arrest, Freddie was placed into the paddy wagon by the police officers who had arrested him ---- black officers, all of them. He could have easily slipped on the floor or bench, or twisted his neck or shoulders to reopen his recently fused and weakened spine. En route to the County jail, the paddy wagon stopped once so that officers could put leg restraints on Freddie to calm him down and restrict his movement.
    >
    > Freddie was a dangerous career felon , well-known to the BPD officers, with a damaged and healing spine and neck, and was supposed to be home healing a week and a half after surgery. He should not have been running around on the streets of Baltimore committing drug felonies and resisting arrest.
    >
    > So why are so many residents of Baltimore destroying their own city with looting and arson? Likely, they don't have the facts.
    >
    > By the way, none of the eight BPD officers who arrested Freddy has ever had a complaint against them for brutality or use of excessive force.
