Okay, so this is kinda big. You guys know how I've been saying "Oh, when the new website is done..." for a while?
It's done. Weeeeell nearly. It's not live yet for reasons I'll enumerate in a sec. In the mean time, check it out whilst it's in beta. So here's what's awesome about this site and why it's not quite ready: 1. You can pick a topic from the tag cloud and easily find episodes with those kinds of topics in them. But I've only tagged season 2 so far. Still need to tag season 1. 2. Through the guest list, you can find out more about your favorite voices from the show and even find all the episodes they've been on. Guests who appear often will get their own pages with links to whatever they want to plug. The guest list isn't quite complete yet, though. Almost, but not quite. Also, I need to add guest data for season 1 episodes. 3. The domain needs to be forwarded and I still need to have libsyn redirect the iTunes directory to the new sites feed.
Why did I do all this? Because it needed to be done and I'm no shit talker. In either case, it should be live before the next episode.
So, what do you think?
Berry nice!
Ain't it? ^_^ The old site looks like shit pretty sad compared to it!
Mhmm. The new domain is better too. Though, might I recommend something like fnpl.me to point to that? It's $20/year on Hover, and really short.
EDIT: I didn't know you had fridaynightpartyline.com. I always went to thaed.libsyn.something.something that I could never remember. Make sure you only have one canonical domain (by using CNAMEs and apache redirects). For example, see what happens when you go to keatsheavyindustries.com or yoshokatana.com, or even www.yosho.me. They all resolve back to yosho.me. That makes Google happy, does't duplicate your content, and allows you to have multiple domains. (for super extra special awesomeness, you can set up gmail to use domain aliases. keats@[any of those domains] will go to the same email address for me.)
Yeah, once I get the go ahead from Thaed, I'm gonna get on libsyn to redirect Thaed.libsyn.com to the FNPL domain name. Currently, the FNPL domain name does a frame redirect to the libsyn page, so I'll ask thaed to change the domain names dns settings to point to 1and1's (my host).
On the whole Amazon thing, the only thing I personally but in stores other than clothes are board games and RPG stuff, but the reason is one Rym mentioned in passing: there's a massive value add. I spend 12 to 15 hours a week just hanging out there. I think that local stores that do things like that wont have much to worry about. A bookstore alone will probably not survive. A cafe that sells books will probably survive trivially.
Also, Adam. Massachusetts never taxes clothes under $500
Dropping in to say that I am now officially going to start listening to this podcast now that my part of the writing of Hardboiled is tapering off and I can start listening to podcasts again. (Writing while people are talking is a good way to go insane)
Yo don't feel too bad about having read Halo Reach. The other Halo books definitely are unmitigated garbage but Reach is pretty decent as far as sci-fi books goes. (which isn't saying much these days but still...) It's not high literature but it's entertaining and has some cool concepts, and that's all I really give a shit about.
I dunno, he's a big guy, pretty fit. Pretty good reach, too.
I'd had about 2 hours sleep, at that point. I don't actually remember most of what I said.
It would be interesting to say the least. I'm definitely out of practice on any martial arts, but I'm quick and scrappy in a fight, pretty able to ignore pain, and perfectly willing to fight "dirty."

I'd definitely have to aim to put you down fast as possible, since I know you outlast me for stamina - you're much fitter than I am, with your biking and such - if I let it drag on too long, it'd put you at a decent advantage.
Most of my good friends are ladies so, even though I'm sure they would fight me if I asked, I don't think I'd feel too keen on hitting them with any measurable force.
