That will bring the 8===D issue to a whole new level...
Girls get totally jipped in a way. It's a lot harder to "whip it out". Although.... we do get the advantage that if the picture is taken right, it looks like a monster.
@kage_rod Thank you for that mental image early in the morning, my brain is going to be scarred until at least lunch time. When someone hacks it I might be interested. The cheaper storage and possibility of WPA are the only real draws. I can understand why studios would want the region locks but if you keep making bad business choices, the market will punish you.
At this point, I highly doubt that Nintendo have another Super Mario 64 in them.
Unfortunately, you're probably right.
This will be the second coming of the Virtual Boy.
I hope so. I'd rather see Nintendo focus on the DS more and maybe just make a DS2. I'm sick of "adding a third platform". No, just fucking improve on what you have. At this point the only way I'll consider getting on of these is if hackers make good use of the SD card slot, the price is $150 or less, and/or if it gets some killer games.
Also, what benefit is it to Nintendo to have it region locked? I don't really see any.

I think the idea of region cock blocking fucks with their brains and makes them think their penises are swelling up but instead it's just Reggie's meat mouth that swells from being stung the bees of stupidity and complacency. ... Or something, I don't fucking care for Nintendo's first party shit much anymore.
there would be cartridge games there were DSi only
Well yeah. All my sources said that, too. Nintendo's trying to push it as a third platform, much like how they initially pushed the DS as a third platform and then slowly phased the GBA out. So there's no surprise that there will be DSi only games...and I have no doubt that it'll eventually overtake the DS phat and lite and be Nintendo's only handheld.
According to the guys at 1UP, the DS games will still be region free, only the download games will be region locked.
I've heard that, but it was only from a comment on DSFanboy, which isn't reliable enough for me. But 1UP's pretty reliable. If it was just the downloadable stuff that's region locked, then I'm fine with that.
Anyone got the felling when Nintendo saw the backlash that gamers went on about the region locking that they quickly changed their tune?
Bugger knows if what anyone says is right at the moment but as this is good ol' ninty were talkin' about here and they've been known to pull dick moves like some sort of guy called Richard.
I specifically was thinking of Disgaea when I said "and a few other developers".

If there's one thing I learned over the past few years, it's that no matter how much a group of Nintendo fans wants something, Nintendo will not give a shit about it and won't do anything about it. Examples: Fire Emblem 6, Mother 3, getting rid of friend codes Exception: Chronno Trigger DS
The main problem with that argument is that Chrono Trigger is SquareEnix's property, and they were the ones who decided to remake it for the DS. So it's not an exception at all.
Besides, Fire Emblem 6 already has a fan translation and the MOTHER3 fan translation is just about finished. As much as I'd like to get a legitimate release for both of them, I'm fine with playing the fan translations because I know that there is a snowball's chance in hell of Nintendo releasing a GBA game at this point in time.
Then again, that's just Japan's (converted) price. It could be different over here, especially considering the DS Lite is a lot more expensive in Japan. But at $180, I won't be getting it...at least not right away. I'll probably get it eventually when some must have games come out, or the SD slot gets hacked.
I think I might just buy it even though I already have a ds light, just because it would be cool. I love gadgets and love having lots of them. I even have the original ds which I took apart.

I heard that too, which would be fine by me if it's true.
The way it was phrased at Kotaku, they implied that there would be cartridge games there were DSi only, and would be region locked.
I can't imagine Nintendo releasing games that only work on the DSi until it gains some serious market share (compared to regular DS).
I can see games that work better on a DSi or even specialty versions of some games (Nintendogs where you use a picture of your own dog somehow) but releasing major titles that only work on the DSi could be a big mistake.
Hell, at this point the DSi is predicted to flop. Apparently it's been getting negative attention all across the board, not just within small geek communities.
The DS was never predicted to do that well. It's probably going to come down to the software. I think that the addition of WPA will make game developers a bit more serious about the online capabilities as, I dunno.. people might actually be able to connect to the internet..
I didn't find that all that surprising. This will probably come down to someone reworking a redirect card to point to the SD or, better still, a way to boot unsigned code strait from he SD cad slot.
They tried a US game in the Japanese DS and they said it worked just fine. They also said, though, that English DSi specific games probably won't work on the Japanese DSi.

And, hell, at least the GBA fits properly in the Fat.

If not, no thanks. I'll stick with my DS Lite + Cyclo and my hacked PSP.
To them, the games themselves won't be.

Also, the DSi seems to have a price on it: $180

Fuck the DSi.
We'll see when it actually comes to the US and we get more official prices....but for now, definitely fuck it.

Triple fail.
Then again, I'm still banking on that SD slot to be the king of homebrewing.
