    "They have nicer processors."
What the fuck does this even mean?

Nothing. It's a stand in for "I like this for arbitrary reasons but I want to sound like I know what I'm talking about." You're in an academic surrounding, primarily, and may not yet realize that 97% of the world (or more) communicates in this way on a daily basis.

I know it. It was a rhetorical question to call Churba's sister out on her BS. I probably would ask what she thinks the benefits of the Intel CPUs in Macs are vs. the exact same chips in PCs and let her get caught up in her own bullshit.

I feel like race played a role in this sentencing:

    http://www.star-telegram.com/2012/10/11/4328858/glued-toddlers-mom-says-children.html

The crime was horrific, but I think it demonstrates some severe mental illness that requires treatment, not being subjected to our broken prison system.

I don't think she should keep her kid, or be anywhere near children, but 99 years? Would a remorseful white woman have gotten this sentence? I doubt it. A white man? Definitely.

Our society is so broken. Broken broken broken.

    By way of contrast:

  • Neuroscientist has vivid hallucination near death experience, gets on cover of Newsweek.

Headline: "Heaven is Real: A Doctors Experience of the Afterlife"

    fucking seriously...
  • Fuck all mass-consumption science writing. It's all fabulism and exaggeration.

I know this election is one of the most contentious in history, but this is going a bit too far. I hope the police catch these people, because as much as I detest Obama I don't wish him or anyone who is helping with his campaign ill will.

Believe it or not, this probably isn't. The most contentious in most of our lifetimes maybe.
  • Why is it more contentious than the past four or five US presidential elections?

Because people have no memory? Every election I can remember (all since 2000) was pretty damn contentious.

  • EVERY ELECTION IS THE MOST IMPORTANT EVER, THAT WILL BE THE LAST ONE IF WE DON'T VOTE THE Fill in the blank OUT.
  • To be honest, the view from the rest of the world seems to be "Ho hum, Obama probably has this one wrapped up. Get back to us in six weeks once you've had your fun."
  • I really want Mexican but there's no place within the distance I'd prefer to travel, and I don't know who does take out.
  • I ordered a cheesy gordita crunch, I got a quesadilla.
  • That's a war crime.
  • There was one election, it involved something with the silver standard I think. Crazy contentious. I took a US history post civil war class in college and it was really strange to see the shit being played out again and again over the span of 150 years. Those who don't know history...

Oh, that's the Bryan vs. McKinley election of 1896, where William Jennings Bryan famously claimed that his opponent's stance against the free coining of silver would "crucify our nation on a cross of gold." That was a good one.

I just walked three miles to the gas station to grab a pack of smokes, and on the one day I haven't got my ID they carded me for the first time in a year. Between the unseasonal heat and a day and a half of withdrawal, I'm pissed off.

Quitting cold turkey today and I'm not looking forward to the jumpy, teeth-grinding rage that nicotine withdrawal induces.

  • Was feeling good after that Stratos thing, then I read about a doctor who decapitated a baby while delivering it, and tried to cover it up by stuffing it back in its mother's vagina.
  • He shouldn't have lost his head like that.

things i shouldn't laugh at.. but still do >.<
  • I've dealt with 2 angry veterans already today about billing. The first one eventually understood and wasn't angry at me. The second one, I had to tell him the copays were legitimate, but he didn't care because he stated he was dying soon anyways and if he has to get a bill from us, he will pay it even though he doesn't think it's fair.

How does a person even respond to that?
  • I... dunno. Today is just a shit day. I haven't felt like this for quite some time, but today appears to be the day my brain shits misery on me for no reason.

    :(
  • Killing time before I leave for the airport to start my two week trip to Israel, and the Public Defenders office calls saying they want to interview me tomorrow morning for a job. Fuck.
  • Can't you do a phone interview?
  • No clue. I'm currently waiting on them to get back to me about possible doing something today before I go. When they call I'll bring that option up, thanks for the suggestion.
  • I don't have any toast.
