Finished 30 questions on a 50 question bio exam. Started to think I was unprepared. Upon answering question 31, everything clicked and I had crazy flow for the rest of the exam. I finished with 50 minutes left on the clock.
Sitting in on mixing sessions, setting up microphones and equipment, learning Pro Tools, and maintaining the studio space. Pretty much everything I need to be learning anyway. It seems like a pretty chill environment too. Near the end of the day we had some free time, so another intern and I hung out and jammed on some keyboards and Reason loops. It was fun.
It's not really an internship if you're getting paid, Sonic :P

I got paid for every internship I had during college. In fact, there are very specific laws about having unpaid interns and more than likely your place of employment is breaking said laws.
I'm aware, but the difference is that you were majoring in CS the entire time you were in college and were skilled labor. I have no formal training in this, I only know what I taught myself because my CC has no recording program. The only reason I'm doing this is because my USC transfer application requires a resume with studio experience listed. If I was already going to a university and majoring in my field, it would be a different story,
I was an intern at a non-profit organization the last summer, I was not paid, but the knowledge that I got from there was awesome. I am glad I got the laboratory experience because now I am working at cool Biotech company where I can basically have my own hours :P
Exactly. I can't afford the software and hardware right now, so having the opportunity to use all this stuff is good. Although, I may be quitting anyway because he's expecting too many hours from me and I still have to have time for my school work. But we'll see.
On the TWiP podcast, Alex Lindsay told a great story. To paraphrase:
"I got a job sweeping floors at a local radio station. I did it for free, to gain experience. Two years later I was the music director. I moved on to a magazine publisher, and worked for almost no money. There I learned how to use photoshop, and by working for way less than the trained professionals pissed a lot of them off. Nobody could understand why I was willing to work for free or for so cheap! But I was learning more they they ever knew.
In every job I worked in, nobody understood my plan, and yet I always left that job and got a better job elsewhere, better than those professionals I was leaving behind.
And then I got a job working for Industrial Light and Magic. I was making the new Star Wars trilogy. And everyone else working there was just like me!
Nice, I'm struggling moving my pace up to 7mph... Good job!
Thanks, I didn't think I could make it but the training for a marathon schedule from Nike is pure WIN so far. If you want an advice, I would recommend you to concentrate on your breathing. If necessary try to not listen to music. Enjoy and good luck!
Yeah, yeah: I'm cheap that way. Strangely enough, the beverage looked like urine when I looked at it with my eyes. However, the orange, liquid Schwartz glow was all made by the camera. I'm surprised it came out as well as it did.

Seriously. You think I look like him enough to do so?

Oh, and now I have my own company."
